blinds 1/2, 200 max buyin

this game runs once a week and normally it is 2/5, 1000 max.
many of the regulars at this game dont adapt and play it like 2/5

9 handed, everyone has at least 200 going into this hand
hero just bought in 3 hands ago

UTG opens for $45
and there are 4 callers of this raise.

folded to hero in BB with Ac9c [200 behind]

reads:

utg - beating him currently
other villains - anything, excluding AA-JJ
if we push - utg is definitely coming along. probably a dominating ace, or a pocket pair like 8s will come along w/ UTG. utg has something like KQ.
this game plays pretty passively post flop
i suspect some or most of the other villains will fold to a push believe it or not

is there a viable option besides "fold" here?
can hero justifiably "gamble" in this spot?

Not A 9 suited. Fold that and a small pocket pair in this situation. The raise is to big and the stacks to small to play.

nope...folding is the only option..what situation are you really happy to see yourself in here? I think you can find a better spot, especially the way these guys appear to be playing

Concur. Pushing A9 is terrible. Tight in a loose game. This sounds like a perfect game to sit back and just play big hands. It sucks...and seeing all the gambling makes you want to join in, but it sounds like TAG play is the most profitable.

I think it depends on how certain your read is and how much money you're willing to play with.

If I show up with ten buy ins and am positive I'm ahead, I stick it here knowing I'm going to lose a good percentage of the time, but that the pot will have an extra 200 dollars of dead money there if everyone folds but UTG, 150 if three of them fold other than UTG.

I'm willing to take that risk with deep pockets because having that huge stack is worth a lot to me if I do win.

If I don't have much behind it, I fold and wait. This is a loose table and you'll get it later on.

Keep in mind, my original all in advice is assuming you're 100 percent correct in your read. Certainly, if there's a chance of two calls with AQ and JJ, I don't want to push. smile.gif

Exactly..Most profitable thing to do is play the opposite way your opponents are playing..Tighten up and push your big hands hard, or just let them do it for you

OOP with a drawing hand is bad.
OOP with the intent to bluff is bad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there's only two ways to win a pot:
1. Have the best hand
2. Bluff

Since neither are an option I'd say you have to fold.
fckthis
seems like an easy fold here.

opening for about $40 the first guy is laying 20-1 out there

so you can wait for a much bigger hand than this

hero felt like gambling and pushed. i was not hero this hand but someone not involved in this hand at the table.

UTG had KJo, and one of the early callers had 88 and called. hero flushed on the river and won the pot

something i thought i would point out -- if you are pushing here (which is pretty tenuous even if your reads are quite solid) position doesnt play a big role in the hand at all really.

lol, you sure this wasn't a rebuy on stars?
