This is why I fold that hand in the sb, even getting 9:1 . . .
In this situation, I would usually just call the flop and lead a safe turn.
After your pot bet and his raise on the turn, I don't think I could bring myself to fold, but the way he played the hand, it doesn't really make sense for him to have anything else but a higher set (I guess AsKs9X is possible, but would he really believe that his two pair is good?)

i dont play at this level but jsut wondering, is the c/r w/ a strong but not current nut hand a common thing?

Similar situation yesterday in PLO 2/4.

I had 10 10 x x - completed in the SB (4 other players in the pot). Flop was Q 10 4 rainbow.

I potted first to act (thought about the c/r which is the line that you took). Folded to button who repots. I folded the 2nd nuts as we both had about $300 and I didn't feel like going to war potentially drawing to one out and being OOP.

well you have to think here that he is putting you on a set, so it is very unlikely that he's getting it all in on the turn with only bottom set. so this could be top set letting you hang yourself on the turn or the unlucky catch on the river with a KK hand most likely with 2 spades. remember everything you have done in the hand shows strength, if we were in his shoes and only had bottom set it's really an easy fold on the flop. so unless you have a read on this guy, maybe thinking he had turned a better two pair or knowing for sure that he would have raised back with 999 on the flop then im checking and folding the turn.

What about a wrap? What about the NFD plus an open-ender? What about the NFD with top and bottom pair. Obviously, if I knew for a fact that he didn't have a drawing hand, I wouldn't have put my whole stack on the line, but I figured that there were a lot of possibilities here, and I figured I was probably ahead until villian raised the turn. At that point, I'm pot-committed enough that I have to call.

What I was really questioning was my play on the flop, wondering if I was only getting called by a better hand with the C/R and if maybe betting out, or check-calling would have been better. I'm still a little hesitant to fold middle set to one raise on a coordinated board though, so I don't know if that would have really made a difference here.

Yes, for the record villian did have top set here.
