I have a question about small pairs and suited connectors, how many players do we have to be on average in this kind of hands pre-flop??

Small pair needs one of a few scenarios:

1. Isolation against a likely AK/AQ/AJ
2. Lots of limpers for set value
3. In position never hurts.

Small suited connectors:
In limit you must absolutely be in position to effectively play them. Anything else is just wasting money.

Pretty decent overview. It all really depends on the game, you know?

One thing that I've been trying to do more of lately is limp-along after a single EP or MP limper with random-low suited connectors. I think we should be able to profitably play a hand like 97s, or 68s or 57s from the CO or the button , or we're not playing (a) wel (postflop)l or (b) in the right game. I read a 2+2 post awhile back (it was a greatest hits thing, and I don't know who it belonged to), and it put this in perspective for me.

Small pocket pairs are overrated in my opinion. I've recently begun slowly but surely eliminating them from my game in bad spots. I play fewer of them up front than I used to, even in looseish games, and I'm playing fewer of them in late position with 1 or 2 limpers, unless I have some reason to expect it could be a jackpot hand. I've found I simply don't flop enough sets, don't see enough free turns, don't win enough bets when they stay good w/o a set, and don't get enough "implied odds" action when I DO flop a set to make up for my propensity to give them up when I don't flop a set and a reasonably dangers board flops.

I never really like to be the opening bettor with a suited connector, unless, however the connector is like 89 or above. In this situation I raise 2/3 of the time to add some deception to my game....as stated earlier, position is KEY and should be utilized to the utmost extent...small pairs obviously play well shorthanded and should be thought of as a hand to raise with if most players have folded the action to you, but don't go overboard. Know your opponents to the left of you; if they feel that you're in a steal situation they might re-pop you with nothing but overs, sh*tty ones at that, and once you completely miss the flop, you'll need to make some hefty decisions regarding your lonely looking 55...anyhoo, just a couple of thoughts that weren't touched on...have fun!
