....Ian....
just started playing PLO again and tryig to get the rust off:

general question regaurding flopping top 2 in PLO (ep) and betting into a field of 3 or more players. (in essence, also raising top2 from LP)

general example.

4 players to the flop.

hero in EP holds A-J-x-x (no diamonds)

flop A icon_suit_diamond.gif J icon_suit_diamond.gif 9 icon_suit_club.gif

Hero.....??????

is this a pottable?

Hero does have top 2 but the texture of that flop is not favorable.

discuss, top 2, texture, position.

thanks guys

Two pair with no redraws is a pretty standard check-fold for me out of position in a multi-way pot. Especially on a board like the one you gave with so many draws. Maybe on a board of 1052 rainbow, I would lead with top two from the big blind, but even then, I think I'm probably going to wait for a better spot.

If it's checked to me in late position, I'll usually bet and hope to take it down.

Facing a bet from ep, it gets more tricky. . .

so a rainbow flop of: A-9-2 is easy pot right?

from the button after it's been checked around, probably. From the BB, probably not.

Need to consider the preflop actions, position, # of opponents, and the remaining stacks.

Not out of position.

Not much is out of position aside from stone bluffs or stone nuts with redraws or quads.

good luck.

Yeah, check-fold this OOP. However, if it was A92 rainbow then I'm potting in any position before someone outdraws me to make a higher 2 pair.
