I may be in need of finding a place to live/roommate and was wondering if anyone has ever used any of the online sites and had any luck? Also wondering if roommates.com is a gay thing. Not that there is anything wrong with that just dont want to start using it to find a place to live and some guy thinks I want to date him. That'd be just straight up creepy. 'lil help!

Have you tried craigslist? Not sure where you live, but craigslist has like a million different cities on it.

Craigslist isy our best option. 1) it's free, and 2) it's local,
but the downside is a lot of creeps post on there. So be prepared to do a lot of interviews.

craigslist is great. i was in the opposite position of searching for a sublet somewhere in a shared room/house.
basically, the amount of work you need to do in avoiding weirdos is directly proportional to how long you plan on living there.
just talk to people. the place is less important than the company since you'll be in close quarters.

depending on what kind of interests you have, craigslist might be the best for you. at the very least, i'd give it a shot. i have a couple hipster-type friends who found wonderful roommates in chicago through craigslist.

im gonna repeat what everyone said and say cragislist is great. i used it with great success last year (though it was in huntington beach, CA so it would be hard pressed to go very wrong). send some emails, check out places, and obviously dont go somewhere where u have to be added onto a contract ( i know many people who have made that horrible decision)

I found my roommates on craigslist. Granted I am writing from a basement locked in a trunk and drinking my own urine....

I would get contact details for previous roommates of potential applicants and speak to them.
Some people think they are tidy / respectful / quiet etc without realising that their standards aren't "normal".
