Seriously, this place is ignorant. A left hander can be late of the ball, barely more than hit a pop up to left field (315 down the line, and 362 in the "power alley"?!?!), and it's a homerun. Pujols absolutely drills the ball to center last night, caught on the ignorant hill they have in dead center (435 ft). Plus the flag pole IN THE FIELD OF PLAY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? That place is ridiculous.
Now, I may just be thinking about it after watching 2 straight Cardinals crush the ball to dead center off Lidge in the ninth and end up with no runs, 1 out, and a guy on third, but I've always thought is was a terrible field.

I really cant defend that park. All I can say is that I do enjoy watching games there. Whats funny is that the Astros used to have one of the most impossible parks to hit the ball out of (Astrodome) and now have one of the easiest.
The Crawford Boxes in left field are way too short. Take them out, and force guys to hit on the walkway (just like it is in left center) and I think its a fair park. But that aint happening. Those seats are in high demand.
And let me tell you, center field is where fly balls go to die. I've seen some monster shots go out there only to see them caught like routine fly balls. I've seen one guy, Ryan Klesko, hit it out over dead center twice. They were truly monster shots with both of them clearing the wall easy.
Seeing opposing center fielders navigate the hill can be funny and scary at the same time. The pole hasnt prevented a home run yet, but i'm waiting for it. If there's any such thing as karma here's whats going to happens. An Astros star centerfielder will have a career ending injury on the hill, or the pole will prevent a game winning homer. Only then, will you see those things removed.
Two other quirks about that park. There are two wierd corners out there. One along the left field line where there's basically no foul territory. And another out in left center where the seats move immediately back to the deeper wall. I've seen a lot of strange plays involving those 2 corners (both winning and losing plays).

That is what I expect to happen someday. That hill just seems unnecessarily dangerous to me. I'm lookinf for someone to blow out a knee running up the hill, fall over, and knock themselves out falling into the flag pole. While tragic, it would hopefully make them remove it.

Worst field=H.H.H. Metredome in Minneapolis. First it was supposed to be a temporary holding for the Twins seeing as it's a football stadium. Half of the seats are pointing far from home plate.
But to it's credit, it is better since they've gotten the new turf. Just think of this, David Ortiz was a Twin who didn't reach his potential because he had constant nagging injuries because of the horrible turf. That's just a crime.
Build us a new Stadium!!

We certainly hope we do. There is a plan that is sitting in the State Senate awaiting aproval. Let's hope that it gets through and we can get a new ballpark.

The Twins and Tropican Stadium are by far the worse 2 ball parks in America. I'm not too big of a fan of Shea either.

yeah there isn't much special about Shea... the colors of the seats kind of annoyed me, but the only real cool thing is the "apple"

Yeah, Minute Maid is ridiculous. I remember when AJ Pierzynski hit a ball as hard as anyone I've ever seen hit a ball to dead center during the WS last year and it stayed in the park. Has anyone EVER hit a home run to center there? Lol.
You guys know I'm partial to Comiskey, but Dodger Stadium is a pretty great place to watch a baseball game. Love the view there.

I've seen several balls absolutely crushed to center there not go out. Then seen many flip pop flies to left go out easy, thus, it's a joke.

It's kind of funny to go to games there.
Someone will absloutely crush the ball to center. People who usually dont go to games start standing up anticipating the homer. The people who go to every game just stay in there seats with a look on thier face that says, "Its going to center folks!"
Then the opposite happens with high pop-ups to left. I remember once when me and friend of mine were sitting up the third base line with the Astros at bat and 2 outs. Someone hit a towering popfly (which would be caught in any park in baseball). Everyone around us gives that "Awww crap" moan like its going to be caught. My friend and couple of other fans sitting near us stand up yelling "Its gonna go!" People look at them like theyre nuts, but the damn thing came practically straight down into the first row of the Crawford Boxes. Home Run! Then the crowd cheers like they cant believe it.
And BTW, I've seen a few balls go out in center, and they were monster shots. Adam Dunns and Ryan Kleskos blasts were truely incredible (I think Klesko has done it twice). Kelsko also hit one to right that almost hit the scoreboard down the right field line. Unbelievable!
