Pujols with a messed up elbow. I guess I understand the decision to delay surgery.

Been messed up since 2003, might as well just play till it blows out, since he's gone this long.

I do believe that's the route that the Cardinals are taking with Pujols. However, if they are going to do a full reconstruction he needs to get it done early so he can be ready for opening day of the following season.

The Cardinals signed Kyle Loshe to a 1 year contract late last week. They needed somebody they could count on to pitch every 5th day. He might start the spring training game on Friday.

He is an innings eater and can deliver 5-6 solid innings per game. He will still have his blow ups, but this will help the Cardinals' rotation.

Boys trust me on this one, Kyle Lohse WILL DRIVE YOU BATSHIT CRAZY! The guy has a very solid outing about once every third or fourth start making you feel hope towards his abilities. Then he shits the bed in about 5 straight starts. Follow this cycle with two great outings, leading you to believe "he's on the right track". Marty Brennaman loved to say, "You are what you are, and after 5 or 6 years up here it ain't gonna change". Yes he can eat innings, but he will cause a coronary in the process.

Good Luck.

Jeff Weaver was the same way and he was a HUGE part of their World Series Title in 2006. I think you are discounting the Dave Duncan factor.

Keep bumbing this baby. Only way your gonna see your team at the top this year

Very good point. I'd still like to see the Redlegs beat him around a couple times this year.

Amazingly enough, all that without a whole lot of offensive production from Mr. Pujols. Some of the guys are clearly playing above their capabilities so far.

Absofruitly. But if these guys can overachieve until Mulder, Clement, and to some extent Pineiro get back. Then if by some miracle Carpenter comes back and they are still in the race and he can regain his form, you never know. A lot of what ifs. But hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
SuitedAces21
5-1. Strong outing by Lohse, and Ankiel with another homer.
Solodell
I would not expect much out of Mulder/Carpenter/Clement this year.
Solodell
Pujols 2 dingers and we're off to the races...wonder how long this SP will hold up.

Hopefully a long time. I am just wholly shocked at 7-2 and the pitching. If this can continue I will NEVER, EVER doubt DD again.
GeneralGeeWhiz
I was at the Giants Cards game last night. Awesome for us, obv, but I noticed that you guys have no pop besides Pujols. I got Pujols autograph too! smile.gif
SuitedAces21
8-3. Pujols with a big night yesterday.
SuitedAces21
14-9. I'll take it.
SuitedAces21
18-11.

I am amazed and so very happy with this start.
SuitedAces21
Yadier just made one of the best plays i've ever seen a catcher make.

Wonderfull!!

Who is this team and what have they done w/ the team everyone predicted we'd see? Seriously, what a pleasant surprise so far.

He demoted himself at least temporarily. About time. He's costing the team games left and right.
mr_druid
Molina dropping his gear at home plate was classic.

Tom.
jdrury12
TY Kennedy for the hot shot one hander.

I think they key to the team is getting one of the two middle infielders to produce consistently.

Should I drop him in my fantasy league? Is there any hope of him going back to a 30 save but bad ERA type of closer or is he basically done? I haven't seen him much this year so I have no clue as to whether he's lost all his command or velocity (whatever he had to begin with)

He has to be going on the DL now, so I would wait and stick him there if your league has DL spots.
SuitedAces21
if they put him on the DL, they need to trade his ass for a bag of balls when he gets off. that is if anyone would be desperate enough to take him.

if no DL, just release him and move on.

He was super awesome at swinging at 2-0 fastballs that were a mile over his head and not only missing them by a ton but also starting his swing when the ball was past him already. That was great. He was also really awesome at not putting the ball in play with less than 2 out and a man on 3rd. The homerun against Houston in the playoffs got him a pass for a bunch of time though...

The catch the next night had something to do w/ it as well. He was king at getting super hot for a week and carrying the offense.
SuitedAces21
Does anyone know when Colby Rasmus will be up? I really want to see what this kid can do.
