a baseball player losing any eyesight makes it nearly impossible to hit the ball.
Things are getting tight now...there's a chance they might pull this thing out...especially if Zambrano can't figure out what he's doing.

What I find funny is as good as Dave Duncan is....and he's the best pitching coach in the majors AINEC...you can't get too carried away as Suppan and Weaver at least have some ability...but I imagine when Walt brought him Kip Wells and was like "ok, do the same thing"...he gave him the Eddie Murphy Trading Places camera face when Randolph Duke told him pork bellies are used to make bacon, which he might find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich...you're seeing it again with Joel Piniero...they at least have to have some ability for Duncan to get them lots of free agent mobneys in the following season(s). I think he gave up on Kip Wells already.

Daric Barton's a dick. I thoroughly enjoyed ripping on him for 9 innings at a
Sidewinders/Rivercats game on a thirsty Thursday. I, along with 4 friends, were especially thirsty and lucky that there was enough room on Daric's dugout to hold the 50 or so cups we had to put somewhere.
When the Rivercats were up 14-6 after 6 and a half and blew it, man, did I get a fuzzy feeling. After all, there were only like 100 people left and my group was responsible for willing the Sidewinders to sweet, sweet victory.

Not true, there is a blood test that the International Olympic Committee uses to test for the stuff. It was used extensively during the Athens Olympics, and all it would take to get it in baseball is for Selig to call out the players union in a public forum.

Yeah, that's what I'd expect from the "best fans in baseball." Please....if this were a Cubs player you'd be all over him..but since it is your player, yeah, it's okay for him to use illegal performance enhancing drugs to better his career.

This pains me to say, but Koop is completely right about this. If this was someone on the Cubs, Brewers, or anyone else, most fans here in STL would be up in arms about it. It's hypocritical (I can tell you quite a few of the local radio guys are calling fans out about it when they call in defending Ankiel).
I don't really know how we're supposed to react anymore TBH. I believe a large majority of players are taking or have taken something in the past. Can we crucify guys like Ankiel/Glaus and others who have taken it in the past. What about guys who've tested positive already (Guillermo Mota, the Cardinals own Ryan Franklin)? If the majority of players WEREN'T on anything or ever had been, those players would be coming out trying to get a tougher policy. They don't want one because they're all doing it.
I guess we'll just have to go on letting Barry Bonds (in terms of public ridicule) and Mark McGwire (in terms of hall of fame voting) take the brunt of the anger while we continue with our blind eye to all the guys still using.

One foggy night, a Cardinal fan was heading north from St. Louis and a Cub fan was driving south from Chicago. While crossing a narrow bridge, they hit each other head-on, mangling both cars.
The Cardinal fan manages to climb out of his car and survey the damage. He looks at his twisted car and says, 'Man, I'm lucky to be alive!'
Likewise, the Cub fan gets out of his car uninjured,he too feeling fortunate to have survived.
The Cub fan walks over to the Cardinal fan and says, 'Hey, I think this is a sign that we should put away our petty differences and live as friends instead of being rivals.' The Cardinal fan thinks for a moment and says, 'You know, you're absolutely right! We should be friends. In fact, I'm going to see if something else survived the wreck.'
The Cardinal fan then pops open his trunk and removes a full, undamaged bottle of Jack Daniel's. He says to the Cub fan, 'I think this is another sign - we should toast to our newfound friendship.'The Cub fan agrees and grabs the bottle. After sucking down half of the bottle, he hands it back to the Cardinal fan and says, 'Your turn!'
The Cardinal fan calmly twists the cap back on thebottle, throws the rest of the bottle over the bridge into the river and says, 'Nah, I think I'll just wait for the cops to show up.'

I think the Cardinals need to re-sign Joel Pineiro right now. He has looked very solid since the Cardinals got him and he was tremendous tonight against the Mets with 8 shutout innings.
I have heard a rumor about the Cardinals possibly trading for Edgar Renteria this off-season. It makes a lot of sense because of how week the free agent class is going to be at SS.
I'm not sure how the Cardinals should approach their rotation this offseason. They don't have a lot of pieces to trade this offseason. I can see them going after Livan Hernandez via free agency. He's a innings eater who doesn't get hurt. The Cardinals have had pretty good success with right-handers who don't throw hard but have good off-speed stuff. Woody Williams and Jeff Suppan were very good pitchers for the Cardinals without being overpowering.
