This is probably a pretty basic question, but hands like this come up frequently for me, and I'm not sure of the generally proper play.
I'm dealt AJ (of diamonds) in the SB of a 10-handed $0.50 BB table. Folds to MP who raises to $2. Folds around to me. Do I see the flop? Is the answer different based on whether MP is LAG or TAG?

I'd see the flop.

Suited you HAVE to see the flop. Otherwise you're throwing away a possible NUT hand.

you have one opponent to get money off of. Not worth trying to flop broadway, a flush or a nice draw. You will get paid off little, but lose alot.

obviously the answer is dependent on MP's raising standards, your and his respective abilities to play postflop, your ability to play OOP, etc.
To a single raise I make this call usually...

Very dependent on how the opponent is likely to act post-flop.

i would probably call unless against a solid ultra-tag, planning to auto-bet the flop, try to take control of/ take down the pot.
in a 6-max game it can even be a re-raise.

Call me weak-tight, but I do not call raises with AJ, unless there's a lot of callers... then I play it for the straight, the flush and 2-pair minimum.
What could people be raising with that you are ahead? AT?
AJ is a trouble hand.

Absolutely.
But I probably make the call knowing that I am walking on thin ice. If you flop your A or J you must play fast with the ability to dump it later. Or just fold and wait for a better spot.

Mainly depends if you suck postflop or not. Aside from flopping the nuts, you won'thave much visability on 99% of flops.
Your opponent doesn't matter much. Your table image is probably a lot more important. Will you get paid off by AK on a TQK flop? If so you should call. I'd allways call.
good luck.

Smash, i respect your opinions and knowledge on poker, but im not sure table image matters at a $50 NL game online. AT would probably pay him off on that board... on UB, atleast:)

Nah, you'd be surprised. Maniacs get paid off a lot more even at $50 NL. Even very tight players get sick of being raised out constantly.
good luck.
