I'm listening to the Twins-Royals game...so I'll do that here.

1-2-3 inning from Elarton in Top of first...

Costa with a leadoff double...Sweeney with a walk..

Edit: I am also watching the Pirates-Cards game...with the sound off. Go Pirates!

Bottom 1st, 2 on, 1 out, Sanders up now...
Solodell
Cardinals. I'm currently in shock cause Encarnacion finally hit a HR.
KowboyKoop
Twins-0, Royals-0...Bottom of 3rd.

Elarton good so far, one hit and one walk....Grudz just got a hit, 1 on 1 out with Sweeney up...time for him to bust out I'd say.

Leave bases loaded with two outs....left six runners on now. Gotta get that big hit, but at least we are putting the pressure on, and Lohse's pitch count is about 63 through three innings, so that's good.

and a triple

boy did Burnitz mess that one up
KowboyKoop
Bottom of 4th...still scoreless.......bases loaded for KC with one out with Grudz at the plate.

1 run in on a groundout. We have been one big hit away from blowing this open the entire game...but we haven't gotten it yet.

Now two outs, Sweeney walks for the third time...Reggie at the plate, bases loaded. A gapper would be giant right now......or a Grand Slam.

Flies out to right on first pitch...9 left on through four innings. At least we continue to mount threats, but we have to cash in eventually. Oh well, still up 1-0. Better than usual.
Garn
Braves vs Brewers. Braves down 4-2 in the 8th
KowboyKoop
Going into Bottom of the 5th, Royals up 1-0. Elarton looking very good tonight (in favorable pitching conditions..wind blowing in a bit), only two hits, one walk, and hit a batter (probably on purpose...Lohse hit our leadoff man Costa in the previous half-inning..). Elarton's ERA currently sitting well under 4 right now, which is something we need desperately over an entire year.
MDXS
Sox-Indians. Currently in the bottom of the eighth. The Sox are leading 8-6. It was five to five in the top of the inning, but with first base open, the Indians opted to intentionally walk Ortiz to get to Manny. Heh.

Absolutely maddening game to watch. The Sox have been tripping over themselves trying to out-retard each other. Not a game the Sox deserve to win.

Indians been playing pretty poorly the past few days or so.....you can thank KC for that biggrin.gif (Gotta find the few bright spots that I can so far...)

Elarton with six shutout innings so far, only two hits given up. He's looking very good for us today, and all year...struggled with control a little earlier, but not tonight.

1-0 Royals, Bottom 6. Time to get some more runs finally...
KowboyKoop
Twins put runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs against Elarton in the Top of the 7th...

Elarton strikes out Hunter and Morneau back to back....two away...

Now facing Batista.....got the ground ball to get out of it....

SIMPLY SUPERB!!!!! by Elarton...seven scoreless.
KowboyKoop
And in the Top of the 8th, Luke Hudson comes in, gives up an infield hit, passed ball, than a base hit and it is 1-1 with noone out.....brilliant.

Now another hit....1st and 3rd noone out. That's what we get for leaving 14 or whatever runners on base this whole game.......

One out now..still 1st and 3rd......Sisco on in relief...double play here would be huge...Mauer batting...

2-1 Twins now on a Sac Fly..two outs, Top 8th.

And ground ball to third, throwing error on Teahen......just redonkulous there. Every mistake he makes opens the door that much wider for Gordon to take his job.....
KowboyKoop
2-1 Twins heading into 8th. With runners on 1st and 3rd with no out and one run already in, it could have been worse, but still sucks to blow the lead. Sisco and Burgos did well to get out with limited damage from the mess Hudson gave them.

Gotta score some runs here......

And Berroa strikes out on a pitch LITERALLY two feet above his head on a 3-2 count...one pitch after swinging and fouling off a pitch that, had he not hit it, would have hit him in the shoulder.

Just retarded.

Berroa = player that needs to be traded for ANY decent pitching prospect.

Runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs for Sweeney...who has walked four times tonight.

The Royals CONTINUE to put great pressure on offensively...but have yet to have one RBI hit...........this is our chance to win the game right here..or at least tie it...come on Mike....
pockets
Listening to the Giants game. Jamey Wright can't be this good.
KowboyKoop
and Sweeney hits a would be homerun that gets knocked down by the wind........

God hates the Royals. It's offical. That's now 239 stranded runners for the Royals this game.
wsox8
listening to White SOx and Mariners on espn radio
KowboyKoop
And heading into the bottom of the 9th.....Royals down 2-1...impressive 9th inning from Burgos once again....but will it matter??

For God's sake can we get ONE big hit this game.....we've threatened in pretty much every inning...yet can't get one hit thereafter......frustrating. At least we are playing a much better game though, that's four pretty well-played games in a row..so that's encouraging, but it sure would be nice to get a win though, losing sucks.

-Reggie Sanders strikes out swinging......he's the goat for tonight...he's been up in a lot of big spots today and hasn't come through at all......one out.

-Mientkiewicz grounds out to 1st. Looks like another L coming our way unless Emil Brown can deliver....

-Brown flies out to right. Game over.

Shouldn't have stranded 9 million runners in those first few innings.
wsox8
Sox up 9-0 WOOOOO

everyone should walk Barry Bonds so he never gets the record..
Azreous
Diamondbacks up 7-0 in the eighth thanks to seven surprisingly strong innings from Claudio Vargas. Could be an even bigger margin if they hadn't wasted two opportunites with a runner on third and less than two out earlier.

Yay, tonight's Sox game is on ESPN, which means I can watch it. And I'm pitching too. **** better not be blacked out.
aadams_22
That happens here alot. We get every Cardinals game televised here and when a game is on ESPN (which I get in HD) they always black it out and force us to watch the non-HD feed from Fox Sports Midwest.

Yay, the Sox are on ESPN2 tonight. I'll get my first look at Beckett in a Sox uniform.

During the game last night ESPN showed a clip from Manny's debut. It was pretty awesome....at Yankee Stadium, and he hit a ground-rule double and thought it went out, but was told he had to go back to 2nd. He then hit 2 homeruns later in the game.
timwakefield
Well, Beckett gave up a grand slam in the first. Not so hot tonight.
KowboyKoop
Jesus....Broussard absolutely mashed Beckett there.......damn.

Walks are killer though...Beckett has looked pretty shaky thus far...but Cleveland does have an awesome offense though.....and I'll also repeat my claim that I think that Cleveland is the best team in baseball.....ANNNNDDD I'll also casually mention that KC took two of three from them and kept their offense under wraps pretty well a few games ago............

...gotta brag about something I suppose.

Heh...yeah, Beckett sucked tonight. Aside from this outing and the very end of the last one, he's been anything but shaky. It seem that it all comes down to location. When he locates his pitches, he's been unhittable. When he misses his spots, stuff like tonight happens.

It's now 15-3 in the top of the ninth. Pena just doubled. Nice to see he's taking advantage of his playing time and Francona won't be tempted to put Willie Harris out there.

watching the Cardinals game. Tony Larussa does more to make me go huh.gif than anyone. Has Encarnacion (who's be horrendous) batting cleanup instead of Edmonds, then has him attempt to sacrifice with 2 on no outs. Why bat him cleanup if you're gonna do that? (don't bat him cleanup in the first place!!!!)

Amazingly winning the game 5-2 despite an 0-3 night from the MVPujols tonigth so far.

I just meant he looked shaky tonight, not for the whole season thus far. He's been pretty good so far this year, I know that. Also, gotta give some credit to Cleveland's offense. Beckett missed his spots a lot, but that is an AWFULLY tough offense to go through even if you do hit your spots. Hafner is gonna be a serious MVP candidate this year.

Indeed....they're fearsome. Not a single easy out in the lineup. Reminds me of the Indians team from the mid-ninties with Thome, Ramirez, etc...

00s Hafner = 90s Thome
00s Martinez + 00s Blake = 90s Ramirez?
00s Sizemore = 90s Lofton
00s Peralta > 90s Vizquel

???????

I put Cleveland as best team in baseball once they get a healthy Sabathia back...but their bullpen is a slight question mark for now....but really...whose isn't at this point.
wsox8
I don't trust the Indians pitching enough to put them as the best team in the league...

I don't think their pitching is as good as the ChiSox (thought I think it will get MUCH better than their current numbers show, especially when Sabathia gets healthy), but I do think their offense is better AND will keep improving.

He's the Joe Mays of the Chicago Cubs.....just gives the game away before your team has a chance to do anything about it.

Okay, damn, I have to talk about this Giants-Mets game.

The Giants are down 2 in the 8th with Duaner Sanchez in. They score 2 runs in the inning to tie it, Bonds gets taken out with the bases loaded for a pinch runner, and Sanchez walks Ray Durham to force in a run.

David Wright hits his second homer of the game to tie it.

In the 10th, the Giants score two runs in the top of the inning, with another runner thrown out at third with one out.

In the bottom of the 10th, the Mets get homers from Jose Valentin and Lastings Milledge (his first in the majors) to tie it off Proven Closer Armando Benitez.

In the bottom of the 11th, the Giants send out a kid who's appeared in exactly one game above Double-A ball, and he throws a perfect inning.

In the 12th, the Giants score a run in the top of the inning, and they hand the game off to another kid who goes through Carlos Delgado, David Wright, and Jose Valentin to get his first save in the majors.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
runthemover
vlad hit a monster chopper over first baseman. 1st n 3rd 2 outs in 6th up 7-0 vs indians

tim salmon hit by pitch bases loaded

kendry morales 2 run double down left field line. 9-0. nice 2 out rally

2nd n 3rd somebody hit 2 run single to left. 11-0. this one is oooovaaaa (because before it was pretty close.....)

I'd start a Giants thread but it'd somehow become a Barry Bonds thread, despite the fact that no one actually wants to read about Barry Bonds.

Besides, this fits here: Jason Schmidt is really really really good.

Franchise record in strikeouts in a game? Sure (tied with Christy Matthewson).

Strike out Miguel Cabrera, Josh Willingham, and some other guy in the 9th inning of a one-run game with runners at 2nd and 3rd? Yeah.

I have a man-crush? Totally.
