This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to anyone, not because the Pacers are overachieving (because even without Artest they're still a solid team with O'Neal healthy), but because the Nets overachieved the last month of the season and have now returned to earth.
You lock down Kidd, and the Nets are done.
