Here is a hand which gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, and reminded me that comedy is all around us, even in places we may not expect...

Party 2/4, 10-handed. Villain is new to the table and posted from CO.

Hero is in the BB, and is dealt everyone's favourite instafold, 7 icon_suit_club.gif 2 icon_suit_diamond.gif .

Preflop: 6 folds, CO checks, button folds, SB calls, Hero checks

Flop (3 SB): J icon_suit_club.gif 7 icon_suit_heart.gif 4 icon_suit_spade.gif

SB checks, Hero bets, CO calls, SB folds

I threw a feeler out there with only 2 opponents to see if anyone else caught a piece. Obviously, I'm folding to a raise in such a small pot.

Turn (2.5 BB): 2 icon_suit_heart.gif

Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls

What could he have that likes the 2? Oh ya...any two cards. I'm bet-calling the river, unless the board pairs unfavourably.

River (6 BB): K icon_suit_club.gif

Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls

Results:

CO shows A icon_suit_club.gif A icon_suit_spade.gif for one pair, Aces.
Hero shows 7 icon_suit_club.gif 2 icon_suit_diamond.gif for two pair, Sevens over Deuces
Hero wins 10 BB from main pot, laughs so hard that he starts to cry a little. He trapped me but good!

This hand made up (emotionally) for the stupid-*** tilt I went on on Saturday morning. Yay!

People who open limp from the CO dont tend to be tricky and/or aggressive enough for me to feel bad about bet/folding. You dont have odds to improve, and he's going to bet the turn basically every time - so unless you plan on calling down unimproved, you should probably just fold.

I think i'd rather just 3bet the turn than donk the river.

If the river pairs the board, then what? Are you check/folding?

If you think you have value, push for it now.

Donking the river really just gives him the opportunity to raise most better hands, and call with most worse hands (though he does raise with some worse hands too, apparently). I'd almost prefer check/raising a non board-pairing river than i would donking it.

you haveo odds to improve.
Unless you put him on a set or two pair a lot.
Or figure no payoffs when you make two pair/trips

You're getting 6:1 immediately.

Even if you credit yourself with 2 bets (on average) of implied odds when you improve, how much do you lose when you improve but get ****ed? Or when you improve, but still have a second best hand?

At best you can credit yourself with 10:1 with implied odds for when you win. And that's pretty marginal even before you account for reverse implied odds.

The best reason to call is so you dont have to worry about observant people raising more than they otherwise would because they saw you bet/fold earlier.
