I mention the idea of trading Grudz at the end of the year for some decent starting pitching and possibly making Esteban German our starting second basemen for next year (who has looked extremely good thus far and gives us some much needed speed on the basepaths), and I get blasted because they say that "Grudz is one of the very best second basemen in the league" and that "he is only 31 years old and he is getting better" (he is actually going to be 36 in June) and that Grudz should be kept here for years to come.......if this were only one or two people...that's one thing...but this is what every single one on there is saying!! WTF!?!?

Actually....he will likely be traded at some point this season...he's good, but if he could bring us a quality arm in return...that would be more valuable to us.....but if it was an unfair deal....we'll hang onto Reggie, he's pretty solid...and he'll probably be in baseball for at least three more years...that mofo is ripped.

No, he isn't bad at all, he's a good hitter, that's why hopefully he has a good season and come the trading deadline, some team will be willing to part with a good MLB ready arm or near ready good pitching prospect to attain him....Reggie is good in our lineup for this one year, but if we could get a good arm from him, that'd be MUCH more valuable for us long term. This is pretty much the entire reason we signed him....to give us a good half year or so and then attract a good arm throught the trade market.

You should post the link so we can show them who's boss. I feel like I know more about the Royals than these "fans" just from reading this thread the past 4 weeks.

grudz is an excellent utility guy, and an average 2B. that's it.

Bush is a great young pitcher. Had a bunch of starts for the Jays last year and he's ready to be someone's #4 guy. could definitely develop into a solid #2 or 3 guy lifetime.

Well...I'd certainly say that Grudz is better than just an "average" 2B...he's extremely good in the field...but he isn't one of the best in the league overall...his On-Base Percentage leaves something to be desired, but he's a decent hitter. He's good, but if we could get an arm for him in a trade, we should do so.

I assume you'd be in favor of trading Grudz for a good arm at whatever point possible.....and yes, most of the fans on that particular board just don't have a clue.

Pretty funny stuff. Almost no one in the Grudz thread had anything near a valid point. One guy was decent, but the signal to noise ratio sucks.

I'd personally add Mark Loretta to the list of second basemen better than Grudz....higher BA, OBP, SLG, OPS+, comparable fielder, etc...

as a Cards fan right now I wish we'd have resigned Sanders so I wouldn't have to watch the horror that is Juan Encarnacion (guy's batting about .200 with 1 RBI batting either 2nd or 5th the whole season).

Yeah, they just plain don't have a clue that we should be building toward a future....they think that because Grudz has a decent batting average that that makes him some irreplacable player....I am confident that Esteban German can post a higher OBP than Grudz (his minor league OBP is WAY better and he has looked extremely impressive thus far this year...) and he has WAY more speed...and that is something our lineup dearly needs. Grudz is a pretty good second baseman....but nowhere near the best...he is replacable...especially at age 36 (he will be 36 in June..).

And yeah, Loretta would probably go up there too....I just named ten I think, but I know I probably still missed a few.....and you could maybe even put Soriano on there too if he moves back there at some point.

Are you kidding me? Mark Teahen is amazing. .240 is a fluke. He will obviously hit about .380-20-100 this year.

I'll assume that you are referring to future Hall of Famer Royce Clayton. In that case....we are going to package our top 8 prospects to trade for him....so then we can turn around and trade him to a contender later in the year in exchange for a Double-A pitching prospect.
