KFVS12 IS one of my local stations. Trust me those storms were nasty. We didn't have a tornado here in West Frankfort, but 80 mph winds were bad enough.

I do my share of whining about Rochester winters, but every time I see footage like this I'm glad I don't live in Tornado, Earthquake, Hurricane, or Flood territory.

We have 3 of those 4. We get tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods here...and yet I don't want to leave the midwest. mellow.gif

KFVS12 was probably one of my favorite stations for weather. Probably one of the better ones.

Seeing that site actually brought back memories...dang.

I dont think theres a word that can perfectly describe what it's like to witness a tornado like that close-up.

for real

for that matter, wsil news was always a hack anyway.

it was maybe 25 minutes of national/world news/with sports mixed in with maybe 5 minutes of local news?

i'm sorry...isn't that what world news tonight was for?

Lot more local now...and the other meteorologists at WSIL are better. About 2 years ago around Christmas there was snow being predicted a few days before Christmas Eve. Rasor said we would get a max of 3 inches. I woke up the next morning to 20 inches on the ground. Despite the fact that the NWS predicted we would get close to 2 feet of snow Rasor still said 3 inches max. huh.gif

In 04? I was around on that one.

I didn't hear what rasor was predicting, I was either watching KFVS, WPSD, or WEHT in Evansville. Those are the 3 best weather reports in the area IMO.

And all of them expected a blizzard.

3 inches...someone comes to work drunk.

Yeah it was '04...I remember my brother driving home from Detroit that night. It usually take 9 hours to get to West Frankfort from Detroit...it took him 14 hours that night. Once he hit Effingham it was a complete mess.

it was absolutely gross. i was snowed in for 4 days (could've been 2 or 3, but i was too lazy to go shovel my driveway...i had a big driveway).

i just remember all the news over kentucky and indiana about people being stuck for 24-48 hours on the interstate. pretty jacked up.

Yeah, they completely shut down I-24 and the Purchase Parkway in Kentucky. The greenhouses on the north side of Paducah on I-24, as you're headed to Metropolis, IL, collapsed under the weight of the snow.

Was I the only person that kept waiting for some loud screaming monster to pop up at the end and scare the shit out of me?

Crazy weather... we get the odd T-Storm in the summer and 'reported' tornadoes ONCE in a while, although I've never been apart of one.

Just north of me in Barrie (Royal Tour's town) got hit with 1 last summer, looked like a total mess and glad we wern't a part of it.

pretty heavy weather up here right now. luckily, nothing really bad in hamilton county right now, hopefully it stays that way.
aadams_22
We're under another thunderstorm warning right now. We had a high of 82...82!...in April no less.
