David Ortiz is 3 for 4 with a 2b and a hr, 3 rbi, now in the 7th.

Sick.

Also nice to see Schilling killing it, 7ip, 2 er, 5h 5k 1bb.
Solodell
I'm liking my Cardinals today. 2 HRs for Pujols, and a Grand Slam for Rolen. This makes me very happy.

Lot of positives here. Schilling looked real good. Lowell just hit a home run. Loretta handled the bat well. Crisp is faster than I thought, etc...

More importantly, I'm already dominating my fantasy league.

Absolutely devastating. And tying it into fantasy, I let my main competitor snag Rolen late. I waited just a little too long. And the guy who has Lieber forgot to start him.

Paplebon pitched a perfect 8th.

the red sox will definitely score some runs.
i thought late last year pitchers would learn him and he'd slow down. that never happened, so no reason to think this year won't be ridiculous.

manny is manny, which means 40/120/5 (hr/rbi/trade rumours)

lowell had one off year, but can really produce. loretta hits for a great average. crisp is a great all-around guy. and the rest are no slouches. they've got a lot of question marks at pitcher, but that might mean more high-scoring games and more runs. definitely a good team to have fantasy guys in.

and crisp is definitely one of the most undervalued players in most 5x5 drafts. he should be good for 15-20 steals, and his other stats will be great. 200 runs anyone biggrin.gif

Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez is arrested for masterminding a six-state crime ring. However, prosecutors refuse to file charges against the popular outfielder after his attorney explains it was just a case of "Manny being Manny."

If those 6 states are Massachusetts, Maine, NH, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, yeah he walks.

Nomar out of the line-up. Lowe got knocked around. And with a 8-1 lead in the fifth, Hudson couldn't finish the inning to position himself for a win.

It's only day 1...I don't count one game last night as the first full day.

Dodgers score 5 runs in the last two innings, but still come up short: 11-10.

Good day for Boston, except for Keith Foulke looked pretty wobbly. Didn't matter today though...but he'll need to be better if Boston is gonna make a serious run in the playoffs. Good everywhere else though...especially Schilling. Looked extremely good. Interesting to see his next start...see if he can bounce back after throwing so many pitches.

Can we add "Red Sox Circle Jerk" as a subheading?

Pretty much my thoughts. The 9th would have been even worse if not for a pretty nice catch by Crisp. He had a good spring and while I can't back it up with anything, anecdotally closers don't seem to perform as well in non-closing situations. The Sox can get to the playoffs without him like last year, but a closer is a huge plus for the playoffs.

I was not happy to see Schilling come out for the 7th inning. He had already thrown 99 pitches and had a rough 6th inning. I'm hoping the only reason why he was back out there was because the 7-8-9 hitters were coming up. I think next start is when I decide how much I'm willing to give myself over to unbridled optimism.

In other news, Bonds crushed Peavy's first pitch for a ground-rule double and I'm pissed because my Yahoo stat tracker won't let me scroll to see half of the stats.

You know there are two scroll bars, right? One underneath the summary stats and one underneath the player stats.

Yeah, and mine have disappeared. They were there earlier in the day, so it's not like I'm too retarded to find them. Restarting the client didn't work either. Eh...whatever.

Shortest outing of Zito's career. 1 1/3 innings. 7 runs.

ARod continues producing in blowouts.

Matsui was 1-1 with a walk in the second inning.

Some fan in San Diego threw a syringe (without the needle) at Bonds as he was coming off the field. He wasn't pleased.

Was he mad because he felt insulted by someone throwing a syringe at him...or was he mad because he only got the syringe for free but actually has to go buy the needle in order to use it tomorrow?? Lol...

Yeah I have D-lowe on my team too. Fortunately I also have Glavine and Dontrelle (both nasty today).

Dontrelle went 5 shutout, ONE hit, no decision...Marlins lost 1-0.

I have Glavine on my team too. I was so pumped when they nailed Soriano at the plate to protect the 3-2 lead and secure the win for Glavine.

It's opening day here in Toronto. We've got a fantastic pitching matchup tonight with Roy Halladay vs. Johan Santana....

... and it's snowing.

No unfortunately not. I'd love to as you wouldn't be able to ask for a better pitching matchup in all of baseball. Plus, the Jays are doing a tribute to Tom Cheek before the game, as well as a tribute to Kirby Puckett.

I will be watching it on TV.

Yesterdays Rogers v. Elarton matchup was better.

sw.

But seriously though...I bet it doesn't pan out and it ends up being a 7-6 game or maybe even higher.

Yeah...just like yesterdays Unit vs. Zito was supposed to be an awesome showdown...lol.

I hope it turns out well........go Blue Jays...I hope the Blue Jays win and Lyle Overbay hits 10 homeruns and Joe Nathan comes in and strikes out 9 batters and...yeah.

I assume those guys are on your fantasy team? I have Santana, so I'm hoping for the complete opposite of all that.

im in a league with 10*10 stats, but the moron commish made pitchers have only 25 innings TOTAL. roy oswalt is my only pitcher. basically, i am going to destroy the league. CG and SHO are categories though - if he went all the way i'd have the league won on the first day. woot.

boourns on all of you.

fantasy is fun and all, but i'll finish last in all my leagues if it means there is some good baseball being played.

in this order, i am hoping for:
2-0 jays win
1-0 jays loss
23-1 jays win

go jays!

I always take real baseball over fantasy baseball, but I see nothing wrong with hoping for a 1-0 CG win by Santana.

i usually do that, so this year i just joined 4 - and two of them are public leagues with dumb settings so i can probably win without doing that well. other two are FCP leagues so i am rooting hard so i can gloat like crazy.

go jays!
- jays thread will be started soon aka whenever i get around to it.
