2/5 NL (I'm watching TV at this point, so no real reads. That Sharpova girl is playing tennis.)

I've played 2 hands in the last 2 hours. I'm at about $1200. Villains in this hand are at $1500 and $300.

2 Limps from EP and MP3 raises to 50. I call in BB with 99. UTG calls. UTG+1 folds.

Now, I lied, I did have some reads. MP3 is LAG. Thinks very highly of himself. Tries to win every pot he's in. Prone to overbetting and has been putting people to decisions who show strength at him.

Flop: ($165ish)

9 8 4 rainbow

I bet $85 (Purposefully half the pot) Remember, I haven't played any hands really. This bet has to give him the idea i have a big pair. Which is what I want. My tight image is an image that is going to fold a big pair against a lot of post flop pressure. (Even tho I won't against this player)

UTG folds, villain raises to $300. hmmm.... maybe he's got 67 or 10j. He's just as like to have 22 in this position too. I call w/ intention of C/ring the turn. maybe.

Turn: (765)
4 woops

I check. Villain bets $550. I call. (I call because at this point, I am sure villain has absolutely nothing. and my only chance to get any value out of this pot is to let him keep bluffing.)

River: ($1865)

A

I check, villain pushes me all in for my last $300. ha. I call.

Results: Villain has 3 icon_suit_heart.gif 5 icon_suit_heart.gif
Maybe not a whole lot on strategy. At the time I thought about posting it because it's a total slow play. We don't have many of those. A lot of times we bet straight into people and lose value against maniacs.

Did you have a question on this hand? Or is this just a brag post? icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway, it seems like you played this hand just fine.

Me neither; only the most aggressive of LAG's will continue to outright bluff when you show any strength.

As I would characterize a guy who is pushing this entire hand with 35.
DonkSlayer
Oh I should have read your OP more closely, you characterized the villain to uniformly fit your read.

Catch his name? (not serious) Foxwoods is near me. No wonder my friend makes a profit at Foxwoods. He's not a great player, but this guy seems a lot worse.

Good fortune for you to run into him =)

Not often. I live in Hoboken and usually just get down there one every few months with some of my buddies. Sadly, I am an online player by trade.

Good lead on the flop. Check/call mode is beautiful against players like me--err..him.

d00d check-calling is for donkeyz. u gotta raise all the time because I read somewhere to be aggressive.

see my man? in one instance, I say shove the flop. Elsewhere, it's C/C.

Occasionally there's a method to my madness.

You work in NYC Scott?

What do you do if you don't hit the set and he bets into you... Maybe an AJ3 flop with two hearts... (you seem to be a very good player so I'm just trying to get into your head a little)

I'm chucking it. I was at this table purely to make money. I had started at a 1/2 table which is what I usually play and heard the roudiness of a 2/5 table with far too many overly aggressive players start calling my name. I was there to catch monsters and get paid off. Notice I had doubled my $600 buy in playing only two hands. (When I say I played two hands, I mean past the flop).

Not the way I usually play and I really don't have that much fun playing that sort of style... i just decided to B/R myself for the craps table. Now, that's a good time.
