When does a lost pot become a bad beat?

Is it when you have the best hand preflop i.e. AA vs 67 sooted and he flops 2 pair or something after a huge pf raise.

Or is it a bad beat when your initial worst hand i.e. J10 vs KK flops 2 pair but then is beaten on the river after all the money is in.

I guess I only consider it a bad beat when you are ahead PF

I dunno. I've had J's, got all my money in on the flop or turn when I hit my set and had guys hit backdoor flush draws or popped a K to make a bigger set. I call that a bad beat.

I consider it a bad beat when the majority of the money goes in when you are a substantial favorite and you then lose.

I think a bad beat should start from pre flop and then be re-evaluated at every street.

agree. it's all about when the money goes in.

if you flop top two pair and then get your money in against an overpair who spikes a set or makes a higher two pair, that's a bad beat.

if you go all in preflop against an overpair, flop top two pair and then lose to a set or a higher two pair, that's not a bad beat.
