Shrug to the first part. While it is possible-she goes to school for about 10 hours each day, and works 3-4 hours each night. On the weekends she typically studies for a good portion of the day, and then works from 6-12 each weekend night. Personally, if I was on that schedule I would shoot myself, but since I don't have to deal with it, it doesn't bother me all that much. She rarely goes out with her roommates since she is rarely home at night, but she ims/texts me frequently enough to ask what is going on and what I am doing to make me think she is bored out of her mind at her job. I also have a very very good friend who lives in the same place as her, and he would definitely tell me if something was going on (hell, he might make it up, he doesn't really like her and she absolutely hates him). Once again, possible, but unlikely.
As to the second part-how can you people all not have AIM? I feel like I am dead if I go more than a few hours without chatting with people on AIM.

The awesomeness of this thread is that many of the conversations contained within could easily be held by a bunch of guys at a bar, or watching a football game, or chatting at a poker table. The idea that it is fairly free flowing without anything official makes it all that much better, imo.

Well, I don't even know who you are anymore...
Whether you decide to have a career in public accounting, a CPA license is very good to have if you're going into any type of business career. But the CPA exam sucks. Also, public accounting has a high turnover rate because it's a great place from which to move onto your next career.
I honestly don't know if I'll stay in public accounting. A CFO job sounds more and more appealing to me each day.

If you're good at it you tend to build good relationships with your clients and eventually they will offer you a job. And it's always for more money.
If you're not good at it, there's no incentive to put up with the hours.
If you're good at bringing in new clients, you will make partner. Being a partner in a big accounting firm can be super stressful though and I'm not sure it's worth the money.

I hear that. The CPA exam is what scares me the most. You are very right about everything else though (turnover, stepping stones, etc.)
