Meh, they're both right, but IMO it's dumber to put in any more work than necessary to get the same small paycheck. If you can get by without getting in trouble on 10 hours worth of effort a week, and get paid for 40, so much the better.

I can see how a person who doesn't partake in the shenanigans that go on here could think that way. My GF thinks it's stupid too, but I think it's stupid for her to put in 70 hours a week at her job so it all balances out. She's a little obsessed with her job, picture the exact polar opposite of me.

No worries, part of the thing about being a "little internet friend" is not getting hit if you disagree with me.

I used to have (emphasis - used to) a girlfriend who made more money than I did, yet was perfectly content to move into my house and let me pay all the bills while she made extra payments on her student loans and extra contributions to her 401k. Add to that the fact that I got to pick up all the entertainment expenses (she paid for dinner maybe twice in the year and a half we were together) and she was kind of a big expense to me. So I have background here, for what it's worth.

She pretty much just ignored me. It's frustrating because when we moved in I never gave her a set amount she had to contribute to the bills. I just told her to give me what she could afford. She usually pays the phone bill or something like that, but she could really be giving me more.

I'll admit, I've made those terrible choices in women before also turd. Be firm on the bills, but enjoy the teddy since it's there already. My last GF sucked the life blood out of me, and I didn't date for a year.

New GF is sooo EV+

She actually tries/does try to pay for alot of stuff like dinner etc. At least keeping up her half which is cool/fair.

Turd, make her get a job or really move on. Poor and fighting over the money don't mix.

How long were you with her before you got fed up?

She has a job, but she's saves most of the money. She says it's for us to go on a vacation later, but I never see any of it.

It's only two months though, right? When you go back, you can set some rules or something. When I lived with my girlfriend we split almost everything 50/50. Groceries, utilities, phone bills, etc. Of course, I kept track of all of our finances in Quickbooks being the anal accountant that I am, so it was easy to do. She just wrote me one big check at the end of the month. The only concession we had was that I paid about 2/3 of the rent since I made more money than her.

Ok, I take it back. This no longer sounds like a lose lose situation. If she has money, but doesn't use it (goes to student loans/credit card bills/gambling debt/car payments/whatever but doesn't go into the day to day things that are a fact of life) then the only reason to put up with that is if you're going to marry her and your debts, etc are going to become one anyways. Even then it is a stretch.

Otherwise, you're a sugar daddy.

I was fed up with her after about 8 months (we fought pretty much constantly) but I stuck it out for a year and a half before things finally came to an end. She just had no consideration for me at all, was pretty much the deal. Total self-fixation...

Ultimately, we had a fight and I fought back. Then when she asked if I wanted to work it out I said no. That wasn't my favorite relationship, to say the least. The one I'm in now is much healthier, equal respect on both sides, despite the fact that we really only have poker in common (and what else do you need?)
