Care to elaborate on the buy in/structure of these sattelites?
Sure.
The main satellites to the 650 I have been playing are as follows-
3R-typically one goes off at 10:30 EST each night, with anywhere from 150-300 players. It will give out from 3-5 seats typically, so you have to finish high. The nice thing about this satellite is that it plays like a deepstack event against retards, so you can be super patient and keep waiting for hands. I have only been in for more than $9 one time, just jam with AQ+, 88+ early and you will gain a lot of chips from morons calling with A7 and K8.
15+1 DS-quickly becoming my new favorite satellite, these play like a $3 sit-n-go. Once again-patience early rules. One time I had 1200 at the 50-100 level at the first table, and someone else had 8k, and I was close to positive I would win. If they have 44 or more players, they give out one seat, if they have 87 or more players, they give out 2 seats. The play at the second table is absolutely atrocious-I have yet to have one where we didn't lose two or more people in the first level.
73+7-This should be my favorite satellite, but the players are typically fairly competent. I have so much experience in the 36+3s to Sunday that this should be one of the easiest satellites, but I am 0/8 in these. Possibly just variance, I will play another dozen or so before I am sure. The one that goes off at 9 est typically has 70-90 players, with 8-10 seats.
The actual 650-I played 2 of these for the PCA and then last weekend for the WSOP. The players are ridiculously tight (last weekend my stats were 14% of flops seen, 0/2 at showdown, and 18 pots won without) and this can be exploited once the blinds start rising. In any given week you will find 200 people or so who direct buy and 400 or so who satellite in, creating for a nice mix. It plays like a deepstack event-2500 starting chips, 30 minute levels, but even still, after 2 1/2 hours last week we were down to 200 players, with the blinds only at 75-150. If you guys would like, I can do a full tourney writeup of the one this weekend and toss it in this thread.
