White Castles are fantastic, but I don't really put them in the "best burger" race. It's like they are a different food, really. I love White Castles, but when I'm hungry for a burger, that's not what I want.
We don't have In n Out in Indiana but I grew up in CA (lived there until I was 19 and get out there a couple times a year), so I'm going with In n Out.
When I'm hungry for a burger and have limited selection, I go with Burger King, Wendy's or Hardees (Same as Carl's Jr, but East of MO).
That being said, I think the best burger I've ever eaten was at the Snack Bar at Binions in downtown Las Vegas. It was greasy and cheesy and oh so good and had all the fixins.

Do you have Applebees in your part of the UK? I know there is one in Edinburgh, Scotland. Anyway, they make a pretty good burger too.
If I could eat pub food, I'd probably skip Mc Donalds and Burger King. I love pub food.

there's some burger place in aladdin in vegas (cheeseburger on the oasis, maybe?), where i had an amazing bacon and bluecheese burger. its tough to pick a favorite, but i'd put that one in my top three for sure.

Holy hell that picture of the In N Out burger is a little biased, yet In N Out still has the most votes! That makes me happy I suppose, because I work at In N Out. I can tell you, it's a good job. I'm the dude takes your order through the drive thru on most days. Otherwise, those fries that you eat, yeah, that's all me....
We work our asses off to feed all you. To those who voted for other burgers, I'm saddened. It's likely that you've never experienced the goodness that is In N Out, all of which are located in the West coast. We just opened the 200th store. Frankly, I feel bad for anyone living east of Arizona. Anywho, I get a free meal every shift I work, and I've worked at In N Out for a year now, and it never gets old.
So my vote goes to Mcdonalds.
