This thread makes me want to start an argument. I mean, do you guys even know what a good movie is? Some of you probably haven't seen a decent movie in your lives.

She's The Man?!?!

C'MON!

Munich wasn't particularly good and I'd explain why, if I thought you could understand.

Anyway, I'm only half kidding. Stop feeding the Hollywood beast and stop going to see any crap movie that looks "cute" or "half decent".

Watched Ice Age 2 (with gf..bleh)... Actually it wasn't that bad, better than what I expected. I would give it a B.

I also watched Fight Club for the first time, THAT was a great movie. A smile.gif

I just saw Broken Flowers on dvd. Pretty good, not Jim Jarmusch's best movie, but pretty good. Interesting, very well shot, and pretty ****ing hilarious at times. Check out this foreign poster, it's totally awesome:

The most under-rated and under-appreciated movie of the last year without a doubt was MUNICH.

I think most folks avoided it because it looks to long winded, or political or boring.

I think long winded, political and at times boring.

Some scenes were very touching, and very interesting.

I thought it got it's point across: the cycle won't end by killing more.

But, I thought attempting Eric Bana's character development was off quite a bit. Spiel shouldve kept it simple like how he did with Tom Hank's character in Saving Private Ryan.

It really was too long.

Meh, 6/10.

hills have eyes is a great "scary" movie i think. Those bastards do everything you dont want to see. They so cross a lot of lines though...especially with the rape scene.....the whole movie wasnt necessarily like jumpy scary it just leaves you sittin there sayin "please tell me they arent going to do that" and they actuallydo it. I liked it but im kinda twisted.

You'd probably like WOLF CREEK then

I honestly found Wold Creek tame after Switchblade Romance (I think it was called High Tension in the states). That was one horrible film.

well, this whole thread was started with firewall getting an 8/10, that pretty much told me where it was going. I'd personally like to hear the reasoning behind saying that Munich wasn't all that good, I personally loved it and IMO was one of Speilberg's best efforts. Saying that it was long is a cop out and is an excuse that can be used behind almost any film that is longer then 2 1/2 hours. There is a difference between a film that flows(which I feel that Munich did) and a film that drags. Granted though, I don't think that it was in the top 5 films of last year(but does make my top ten of what I saw), but that is always up for debate

Easy, man.

Saying "too long" is only a cop-out if somebody with a crappy attention span can't sit through any more longer than 1.5 hours.

I said "too long" because the point was made halfway through the movie. I understood: Eric Bana = generally good guy. Violence begets violence. The point of the movie was made the first time you saw on the TV that the PLO was sending mail bombs, thus reacting to the deaths of the Olympic plotters.

So, too long.

I agree that there were some great parts, great scenes. I also though there were others that weren't amazing.

So, I said 6/10, not bad, not great. If you disagree, fine. Don't insult my intelligence though.

Possibly, though I felt you bunched me into the "I loved Must Love Dogs" crowd when I said a movie was too long.

saw Poseidon tonight.....

don't bother...easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen

I can stay current on the kids movies...single dad with sons 6 and 3.

Saw Over The Hedge, which was only okay...

Ice Age 2...again, only okay and pales in comparison to Ice Age.

Looking forward to Cars, actually, which I'll probably go see next weekend, when i have the boys again.

Last movie I saw was Xmen and I loved it...I didn't get why all those internet fan geeks hated it, but I don't care. It was great.

I reluctantly attended a screening of The Break Up. It turned out better than I expected, and took an interesting spin on the romantic comedy/date movie genre. Vince Vaughn came through with some pretty good monologues and he and Jon Favreau together again made for a couple of good scenes. All in all it wasn't that great, but not too bad...I'd give a middle of the road 2.5/5 Star rating.

here are some thoughts of new movies:

Mission Impossible 3 - I thgout it was good, but i still like the second more. This had a pretty cool scene at Vatican City.

Xmen 3 - Awesome, my new favorite Marvel movie. Many different chracters on boths sides. Nonstop action.

Over the Hedge - Great time if you like those Shrek-type flicks.

The Omen - Very well done i thought. Julia Stiles did a nice job.

RV - dont bother...a waste of Robin Williams' talent in my opinion

Bumping old threads is +EV. Fun threads like this even moreso...
As some big movies come out such as Superman and Pirates I'd like to hear some of the FCP members reviews.

I'll start with The Break up. I enjoyed this movie mainly becuase I went in with low expectations. Jennifer Anniston I felt was dull, she never brings anything new or original to this film, but Vaughn saves this movie. Every scene he's in I thouroughly enjoyed, especially his rants. His style requires him to be himself, and Vaughn's act is almost effortless it seems but that's why it's so good. Although anyone expecting a laugh out loud comedy may be dissapointed. The laughs are few and far between, with the exception of any scene Vaughn is involved in. Supposedly an anti-date movie, except my gf and I had fun taking each seperate opposing side. Guys will love Vaughn for saying what every guy is thinking during useless arguments. I say 7/10 for me.
