i've been playing for an hour and a half, played 2 pots, one was shown down (k-k), the other was uncontested. you could say i was playing tight wink.gif.

i am in the big bling with As-2s and a good player w/ very loose open raise requirements bumps it to 10 total... 3 others call and i call 6$ more for a shot at a 50$ pot if spades hit...

the flop comes q-7-2 rainbow and i check to the original bettor, who bets out 15$ into the 50$ pot... 2 people call (very loose, not worried abotu them at all, absolute fish) and it is back to me...

because i have a tight image, and i know the original raiser was paying attention, i make the check raise to 50 total. the raiser calls (my ******* puckers up) and the other stragglers fold.

180 in the pot

turn 2

i push, knowing he will call with an overpair or worse, and he insta calls. he flips over q-8, the river is a blank, i openly say "i got lucky, sorry dude" and rake in the pot... what am i supposed to do? i tried to make a play and got lucky, it happens... so the guy starts losing it on me, i say he coulda laid down q-8 easily, onto the strat part...

say a blank falls on the turn, do i check and basically surrender, or fire another shot at it? what if it was another spade an gave me four to the flush?

No draws here, so your opponent likely isnt drawing, but if you checkraise 3x orginal bet, I feel you fire that 2nd bullet.

I dont like your check raise. You bluffed what seems like an elephant./calling station.

You're lucky you sucked out, otherwise you dump off more chips on the bluff.

beleive me i did not expect him to flip over q-8 like i said he had loose starting hands but was playing solid poker
meltdown i guess

Stack sizes? Those are pretty important here.

When he calls your flop check-raise, you have to give him credit for at least a pair of queens...so it's just a matter of whether you feel you can push him off of it on the turn.

he bought in for the min and may have been up 20$ at that point... i was at 600

Seeing as he's essentially put in 1/3 of his stack by the turn and the pot is bigger than what he has left, pushing him off is going to be somewhat difficult. I'm not saying that it'd be impossible...but much harder than if he'd bought in for the max.

If you check raise the flop, you need to lead the turn, blanked or not.

You understand why, I hope.

I agree.

You must fire 2nd bullet on turn regardless what hits after your raise on flop.

Having said that i dont like your move at all. You are out of position, playing against a shortstack who is obviously a little volitile to say the least. Also, the pot is 4 way when you make your play and you have no idea what the other 2 clowns may hold. Even clowns can wake up with hands.

This kind of play works great with position, in a heads up pot.

I would say no you don't bet out on the turn but the reason I say that is that I wouldn't have made the play on the flop. In a four way pot where the guy is very loose, you have to assume he is going to call. My theory would be don't throw good money after bad if the flop bricks. As you suspected, a player like him with 1/3 his chips committed will call anything on the turn. However, a standard play would be to lead out no matter what as others have pointed out.

i've hit more big hands with Q-8 than anything else, but that was a clear fold for him. As for you, i hate being out of position and it seems like checking the turn would be the best option or else this guy will just call you down with top pair no kicker.
