Iran sucks at life.

Today, in response to Cheney saying there would be meaningful consequences if Iran goes ahead and enriches, Iran announced they will cause the US "harm and pain."

They always use words like that. When Iran beat us in the '98 World Cup, the Grand Ayatollah announced "You have confronted the great Satan and you have slayed him! Allah Akbar! Your great victory will forever be rememebered by Iranians and Muslims alike!"

Dude, seriously. Notch it down a few, man. We don't live in a comic book or fantasy novel.

Iran has been pissing people off since forever. All the great wars for the Greeks were against the Persian empire, led by the same race as makes up 90% of today's Iran. Alexander the Great had to drop the hammer on them repeatedly. They've traded crazed kook leaders throughout their history, and other nations have been forced to decided whether it really would be better to get rid of the current nutbag, in case the next one is even worse.

PS. I think sovereign countries should be able to enrich uranium for whatever purpose if they want. You lose a nuke, however, you lose your country.

Good stuff...I say we just stay away from them and if they come for trouble you take no prisoners

There are vast stretches of desert that I think would make great hunks of obsidian. It would be quite a tourist attraction, the US should look into this...

The U.S. sent a very clear message to the rest of the world with its handling of the Iraq situation vs. the North Korea situation:

Pose a credible threat, or risk invasion.

It's no surprise many unfriendly nations are trying to arm themselves as quickly as possible.

Well...I guess it's time to start back up with the in-school "GET THE F*CK UNDER YOUR DESK" drills ala 1960....

God Bless the USA and Israel, and i think that we should give Iran nukes, right in the middle of Tehran...they want nukes, they should feel the wrath of ours!(usa)!

Good post OP. I laughed, and it almost made me think.

I bet you are saying that Cheney shouldn't make threats either right? Cool!

Historically speaking, those damn Christians went on all those crusades and can't be trusted. We should wipe out Christian countries. In fact, 90% of white people are the same as those damn viking savages. They used to like throw axes at each other for fun, NUKE THEM ALL.

Sigh, apples to oranges again.

I was sort of saying Cheney shouldn't make threats.

AND, the Christians went on the Crusades in the Middle Ages. Currently, we do not have a fanatical Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, or other religious regime trying to obtain nuclear weapons while at the same time sponsoring terrorism.

AND, people liked the Crusading countries. Iran pisses off its closest neighbors as much as it does the West.

We do have a fanatical Christian regime right here at home. And all of the predominantly Christian and Jewish states already have nukes...that's why they aren't trying to obtain them.

I will make no comments about whether or not this is a bad thing, but I will say that the US has no business telling other sovereign nations what they can or cannot do within their borders. We are not the World Police...we just act like it.

Yeah abortion clinic bombings, thats pretty true. They are pretty ridiculous. And the picketing of funerals by that guy is absolutely disgusting. But the more I think about it, the less I want to discuss politics any more.

Only sarcastic responses to political issues from now on!

So, honestly, you don't differentiate between a few kooks and an entire nation of people?

Of course I do, I'm not completely retarded. I see the difference between the Islamic faith and the assbags who blow stuff up in the name of Islam also.

Some people are assholes, and every religion has it's share.

I think my point was that ONE dude blew up abortion clinics, and about 40 of them are picketing the funerals. Vs, multitude of state-sponsored suicide bombers, etc.

I know not all muslims are kooks, I was more referring to the Iranian-government sponsored ones. Theyre multitudinous.

You ever been to Iran? There are a lot of nice people there just trying to get by and improve the lives of themselves and those around them.

Your first post's justification was largely historical

That is why I said the Crusades Viking thing, unlike your comment

Which has more traction, other than the issue of defining and demonstrating support for terrorism. Not an easy thing and again might be applied to the US, but we can save that discussion for my lonely Friday night.

I find it interesting to look at maps of the Middle East. In fact, when I'm not wasting time here, I play the Geography Game at Addictinggames.com (google these two words to play, you can play other continents than the auto-start US, true story). Anyway, take a look at the countries bordering Iran to the west and east. That's right Iraq and Afghanistan, both countries that the US has invaded. I smell a pincer movement a coming.

Ultimately Donk, I am far too happy just being able to type my thoughts without government censorship to get worked up. Plus, you have far more posts than I so I must ultimately defer to your wisdom on posted matters as dictated by the conventions of this forum.

You don't have to be beheading people to be a fanatical Christian. What about those comments that keep popping up that Bush is doing the will of God? Any nutjob in the White House that thinks that he has divine power is enough for me to consider him a fanatic. (Just for clarification, I didn't vote for Bush, Kerry, or Nader, yet I did vote. That must mean that *gasp* there are more than 2 parties plus the token nutjob 3rd Party candidate. Why people won't seek out the best man for the job instead of eating the pile of political mumbo jumbo that they are fed from the media is beyond me.)

Also, what the hell is wrong with Iran enriching uranium? Currently, they have a test setup of 10 centrifuges. To produce reactor grade uranium requires thousands of centrifuges. To produce weapons grade uranium requires different, harder to build centrifuges, and even if they have that equipment, it takes several years to refine the material. Since we seem to know every time one of their nuclear scientists farts, I'm pretty sure we could stop the weapons grade uranium production before they have enough for a bomb.

The Iranian leaders must be crazy because they want to use the most efficient method of energy production in the world! [SW]

When did the U.S. invade North Korea???

This shouldn't require an explanation.

North Korea has nuclear arms, and poses a credible threat. Therefore, the US has not and will not invade. Iraq, however, was no threat whatsoever, and therefore the US was willing to invade.

Other countries want to be like North Korea and pose a credible threat, not like Iraq.
