Welcome to the Gilbert Arenas fanclub. Right now we have one member, hoping to add more in the future. Post your thoughts on Gilbert's play, his selection to USA basketball, the Wizards, or any other NBA topic that comes to mind. I'm glad we have this NBA forum I'll be posting more often now, lol.
Paul Pierce hit a nasty jumper at the buzzer tonight to beat the Wiz. Amazing shot. Kudos to Pierce, but double Z-E-R-O is still the best guard in the east.

Yes, I know he wears just one zero on his jersey, but I still call him double zero, ok. Or his preferred nickname, "The Assasin".

More than just above average, top 20 in the game, probably top 15.
Add me to the club, Gilbert is the man, even though he left my Warriors.

Did you read that he bought a bunch of jerseys for the All-Star game and he was signing them and passing them out to fans? That's pretty cool.

I have him on one of my fantasy squads, so I am cheering for him this year. Otherwise I generally dislike anyne who plays for Lute Olsen in college.

Yeh, he is not your prototypical NBA player. He is cool, but also kind of weird in a good way, if ya know what I mean. Taking showers with his jersey on during halftime and coming out at the start of the third in dripping wet shorts is something no other NBA player could pull off. Like Daniel, Gilbert spends a lot of time and money giving back to his fans because he is a true fan himself. Witness his one jersey salute after every home game. Plus his game is just N-A-S-T-Y, and not in a Ron Mexico sort of way.

Posting a bit late, but the Easter Conference "assasin" ripped Detroit again last night for 34 points. Monster game and thoroughly dominated fellow all-star Billups. That makes Washington 2-0 against Detroit this year. We got their number, that's why Wizards are going to the finals!

I don't care either way about the guy, but you have to root somewhat for a guy who wants to play the best team in the league in the playoffs because the head coach of that team didn't play him enough in the All-Star game. That is golden.

He's a top 5 player! I'd rank him ahead of Kobe, who doesn't get his teammates involved, Duncan and Shaq are having their worst years statistically, KG's team is not performing up to par, AI can't guard anyone, TMac is having personal issues, JKidd is getting old. I'd say Arenas, Nash, Marion, Brand, Lebron, Wade, and Pierce are the best players in the NBA currently, with others like Kobe, Ray Allen, VC, KG, TD, and Billups making up that next tier. I'm sure I've forgotten some players, and these are just MY opinions. You can think differently and I encourage you to do so

I can see where you're coming from, but he's only top 15 to me. Sorry. lol
Nash/Marion/Lebron/Wade/Pierce/Kobe (as much as I hate him)/KG/healthy TD probably all go above him in my book.

I've heard a lot of positive things about this guy. He's a great role model for people to look up to! As opposed to people like 50 Cent whom get mimicked so much more often...
Go Gilbert!!!!!!

I'd have to include Kobe in my Top 5, it's hard not to include probably the most talented player in the L in my Top 5. I think Brand and Arenas still have to prove themselves in the playoffs before they can be classified as elite players. TD, KG and AI have proven themselves over the years, because they've had playoff success at least at some point.
I wouldn't put Gilbert in the Top 5 best players in the L, but I'd probably say he had 1 of the 5 best seasons of any player in the L. I'd put Nash, Kobe, Lebron, Wade and Arenas in that category.
I think Gilbert has the talent to be a Top 5 player and easily Top 10, but he's not there yet. He's still young though, so there'll be plenty of time to get there. I do love his game and his personality.

I LOVE GA, but I'm also realistic, and it is ridiculous to call him a top 5 player at this point in his career. He might be there some day, but right now top 5 has to be some combination of Kobe, Wade, Lebron, Dirk, and KG (he's still good even if his team sucks). Duncan would be there if not for injury, and Shaq if he's playing his best. GA is borderline top 10 at best.

i hate to click and post this but, your way off, kobe is neck-to-neck mvp vs steve nash, and i believe the winner of that pho/lal series will decide that vote. i own the 81 pt kobe game on my dvr, do u?, until uve watched that game from start to finish , u wont truly apprecieate his greatness. yes lebron may be better, but kobe may be better than mike, then years later, lebron may be better than KOBE

Hmmmm, I don't get what your disagreeing with. I'm basically giving Kobe his props as 1 of the best players in the L in that post, yet your arguing with that? Also, the playoffs have no effect on MVP voting, all the awards are based on regular season.

he's a great player, but no way he's better than Kobe. He dishes out a couple more assists per game, Kobe grabs a couple more rebounds per game, and Kobe outscores him by about 5 a game.

I agree Arenas is probably not a better player than Kobe on the court at least right now, but as a person he far above him. Give Arenas a few more seasons, he's gonna be a beast. I like him alot. He has a some growing to do, but that's the deal when you start out at anything in life. Arenas is a class act in the making as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there's any disputing Kobe as maybe the best player in the game right now. Arenas is one of the best, but has to have a couple more years under his belt and a few more playoff series victories until he surpasses Kobe, if he ever does. However, he's still very young and I think in two more years he'll be considered by many as a constant top 5 or 10 player in the league. I firmly believe he'll pass Wade, but probably not Lebron unless the Wizards win a championship soon.
Arenas tho has a much cooler personality than Kobe. He hangs with his teammates and gives back to his fans, while Kobe has been reported to be very distant from his teammates, at least before this year when Phil came back and kinda righted the ship. When you add character to ability, that is when I put Arenas ahead of Kobe.

Arenas is one of the best young player in the league, but he isn't better than any of those guys right now and I don't think he is going to be. A few plaoff victories isn't going to get him in Kobe's league, kobe has 3 rings. LeBron is probably the most talented player in the league today, and Wade is mr intangibles, he does it all and does it well.

Yeh Arenas was coming to the defense of his teammates and didn't do anything to warrant an arrest, just read the Wilbon article. This just shows the ineptitude of the Miami police and the whole city. He's selling his house and never comin back.

I am really disappointed in the Miami Beach PD and how they treated Gil. I was able to meet and greet him the day before the event, however, being that Miami is my hometown I should have warned him about how things get "down" in the MIA. Nonetheless, I hope he really does not give up his house, would hope to run into him down there again sometime...although, my chances of seeing him again while living here in MD are a lot better than in Miami.
