are you calling a river bet?
Pancake407
no, that's a check/fold
psujohn
Checking the river seems to be begging for a bluff but given 3 overs and the possible flush I'm not sure that c/f isn't the right idea. I want to say that b/f would be better but I hate that villain has refused to define his hand in any way.
Pancake407
I dont see what he would call with on a river bet that I could beat.

True but then I don't see what he would call with on that turn that you can beat.

Actually I'm not really sure that I can see what he'd call with on that turn that wouldn't make me think he's a complete moron.

I'd guess a pocket pair < J. Possibly < your 7s. I've seen lots of villains call down small pocket pairs HU.
Pancake407
Villains VPIP, was probably around 70%, thats just a guess though. Seemed like he was in every pot.
Actuary
my gosh, how low do you go raising preflop from EP?

77 your limit?

I limp this 100% of the time.
but not that that's best.

if he's laggy sorta
wonder if c/f turn, c/c river is good?
let him bluff or bet his K6.
You save a bet on turn, as he bluffs less on this street, imo.
And aren't getting raised off best hand
and get to SD for same price

just ramblings, not sure

I'm not that high on checking the turn and giving the villain a free flush/gutshot card.

And yes, I'd limp 77 UTG in a full game.
Pancake407
I go as low as 77 usually, I thought it was standard to raise 7's up front. Where do you draw the line, 99? Ill start limping 7's and see how it works out for me, thanks.
Actuary
88 some games 99 most games

just razzing you.
I'm no expert on mid pairs.

Have slight pos wr with them, but limping/raisng probably close and table dependent and other stuff
psujohn
I count 9 players which is a pretty full table.

I'll raise 77 sometimes. I'm more likely to fold it than limp it though. When your table stats are like 19/10 it's extremely rare that you'll get the 4 limpers you need to play for set value.

holy smokes!
that's some lousy tables.
I hope you steal a lot of blinds there, and bluff raise/semi bluff some turns.

I have to force myself to fold 33 UTG...and I often don't.

When the table stats are 19/10, I'm standing up as fast as I can.

Yeah you get to steal some blinds and bluff/semi-bluff now and again. A table VPIP between 19 and 23 is fairly common on Party 1/2 - at least when you play on weekday mornings. I do leave tables on a semi-regular basis though when the VPIP is below 25. It's kinda sad when you find a 28/8 table and think it's juicy. smile.gif

I hear ya. Even at the .50/1, Party seems to be tighter than I remembered it. Maybe I'm just finding the wrong tables, but in general they end up being about mid to late 20s (at least when I usually play). Though you still find some of the tables where half of the players see the flop and none of them are good players. Those are glorious, of course. smile.gif

I live in Orlando, FL - I go out like 3 times a week to the Suncruz casino, they have a 5/10 game on weekends, it averages about 6 to a flop, about 4 or 5 after a PF raise..During the weekdays, its a little tighter, but postflop is still horrendous. Downswings are killer though, lot of suckouts, but your hands really get paid off huge when your on.
pokerkid
I have actually basically stopped playing on weekdays that's how annoyingly tight party .50/1 has gotten.

I didn't bother trying to find a game today 'cuz I've learned my lesson. So I'm playing Omaha 8/b. The players are always bad...worse than me. And that's incredible.

2/4 has begun to loosen again!

Without Reading Replies:

PF: Okay, my SSHE says to call with 77 from early position. However, for whatever reason, I don’t mind the raise.

Flop: I think I play the same.

Turn: I think I’d tend to slow down, but I don’t know if that is right.

River: Well, after seeing villain check behind, we know he didn’t have a flush draw and might have folded to a bet. However, without that info I think I play the same. Also, I don't think villian would have any reason to put us on a flush draw

I think I'll continue to limp with 77. Also, I was wondering why the line for playing for set value with pocket pairs is 4 limpers? Aren't we like 7.5-1 to hit a set? Is this just an estimate based on implied odds, or is this a hard line? Thanx

Exactly. It's an estimate of how many to the flop we need to be pretty well assure we can make up the 7.5-1 that we need to draw to a set. It's not a hard line - if you know that a particular villain will ALWAYS see the river you can count him for 6 SB right there.

This belongs in the "you know you're playing a fish" thread but I remember playing one guy who complained that someone cracked his big pocket pair when they flopped a set. He insisted that you were 22-1 to flop a set because it was "2 outs". Gotta hate those one card flops.

Oh and kuddos on the "without reading replies" response. More of us should really do this.
