that is not useless trivia that is useless INFORMATION. If you would have asked questions about how many people haven't posted yet or something like that then it would be trivia but for now it is useless information.

An excellent point. Maybe it should be titled "useless forum statistics".

Not quite true, allin.
From dictionary.com
Trivia:
Insignificant or inessential matters
You are referring to 'playing trivia' like Trivial Pursuit. The word has been bastardized in the last few years to the meaning you are implying.
The original poster was correct in his use of the word - interesting but insignificant (in the grand scheme of things).
Now to stay on topic, its good to see that even though there are only a few hundred that post regularly, there are thousands watching quietly in the background. Not everyone has the 'need to be heard', but at least they are here, reading, learning about poker and Daniel.

I light of this new information I think the original title will have to go back.

I don't like editing posts so I won't do it. I think the saddest part of that is you had go to dictionary.com to correct someone on a poker forum at 6:30 in the morning.

Its only 6:30 in the morning in your part of the world I guess . . thats twice you've been caught not doing your homework . . .

that could be why I am currently failing out of college
Devilkin
Friday, February 25th, 2005, 4:46 AM
Sorry to hear that . . we can verbally spar all we want, but I never wish RL failure to anyone, especially a fellow poker player.
Good luck in your collegiate efforts. If it makes you feel any better - I was rusticated (nice term for 'get your butt out of our university and make room for someone that has half a brain') my first year of university. Got right back into the game after that wakeup call, currently have a Business diploma, a degree and now run the computer systems at that same university.
Ain't life funny sometimes?

well, if we have that many members, how come more don't sign up for the forum challenge?
Also, why sign up for the forum if you aren't gonna post. I mean, if you wanna just lurk, you don't need to sign up....

If they don't post, how will they answer your question? lol
Actually though, if I was just a lurker I'd still register as well, the reason being that when you sign in to the forums, it will tell you where the new posts and stuff are since your last visit, but it can't do that if you aren't registered.

I want a recount! I'm quite sure I wans't counted the first time.
Make sure you keep the lists up to date by posting updates every two or three minutes... wouldn't want to miss anyone else or any new messages would you?
Hmmm... I think this post comes under the heading of useless nonsense, so make sure that you count it at leat five times. Or mayby I should post it five times to increase my posting count.

In business, it is called the Pareto Principle.
20% of your customers give you 80% of your business.

Just do add more to this amazing debate, isn't it redundant to call it "useless" trivia? Doesn't the word trivial connote something that is insignificant and otherwise useless?
DCWildcat

That's really interesting about the Pareto principle. I'd never heard that.
And yes, it is redundant to call something useless trivia. It'd be like saying trivial trivia, which is quite obviously redundant.
