What is your general rule for how much money you sit down with in the limit cash games?

Thanks
Kurtman213
Personally, I like to buy in for a small amount at the 3/6 game. I usually buy in for around 50-60, mainly because I think it gives me a deceptive table image. Many players think I'm a weak player because you're only sitting with a small amount.

I like to refer to it as a mansion

I like to buy enough chips to build a model of the Starship Enterprise. Playing 5/10 live, I usually have a lot of time between playable hands, so I might as well have a hobby.

Well I know most people would disagree, but its kind of a superstitious thing I do. When I first sit at a table, I start playing little more aggressive than I usually do and if I drop to 20, I buy in for 50 more and tighten up. I've found this helps my table image.

Many players think you're a moron.

Many players are correct.

good luck.

For limit you need to start every hand with enough to cap every street. Usually 12 BB. More if you want. Dont sit with less.

I guess man, I like when players think I don't know what I'm doing, gives me an edge, hence the mental edge

Sitting with less than 12 bbs doens't give your oppoenents an edge. You just need to adjust your play.
econ_tim
if you get up against a maniac in a live game, you can easily put 15 bets or more in a pot, and i want to have chips in front of me for that opportunity

Do you like it that they're right?

I tend to think quite the opposite when someone buys in short. They're typically there to gamble and probably suck too. It's always funny when they re-buy like 10 times for the minimum, yeah like buying in for the minimum is going to minimize your losses when you just reload everytime you bust laugh.gif

sluggo, what are you saying?
Seems like I recall you stating previously that small stack Limit Poker is not stupid, but an acceptable strategy?

I don't see the benefits.
Unlike some benefits a player can have doing it for NL (epscially if they are not comfortable with deeper stack paly post flop)

You sounded smarter, Sluggo, when you would just parrot Smasharoo, remember those days?

I go with 100 small bets. I know it seems like a lot live, but I don't like to hassle with buying more chips if i'm down anyway, and I find certain players give me the evil eye when i sit down with that many chips in live games. If i'm lucky, I'll pick up some big hands early in the game and seem as if i'm a table bully with my massive stacks of chips.

It doesnt really matter as long as you make sure you have enough to cover alot of action. This isn't no limit, it doesn't matter how big your stack is that much. I just moved up from 5-10 with a full kill and I usually sat down with 500.

Its all one really long session, just make sure you have enough in front of you that you dont screw yourself over by missing bets because you dont have enough in front of you.

If you're afraid of tilting too much away, walk when you lose a certain amount or learn how to control yourself emotionally.

Not to be ganging up on you... but do you believe bad beat posts are emotionally cathartic?

From here please make the jump that your own tendencies are the root cause of all your problems.

25 bets is fine, anything more than that is more fine, and as you approach infinity the amount matters less.

I usually sit wtih 20BB i don't know why i just do i guess i used to sit with 25bb when i was playing 2/4 but i think when i moved up to 5/10 i didn't feel comfortable sitting with 250 on the table so i sat with 200 instead, this was back when i was playing above my bankroll. Now i have the proper bankroll but i still sit with 200 just out of habit i guess. Probably should sit with more. BTW i can't stand people who sit with there entire bankroll and then start talking smack. I find this is constant at pokerstars i had one guy sitting with 850 or so and started making fun of me cause his bankroll was bigger than mine. I asked him to put his whole bankroll on the table and he told me i was looking at it. I started to laugh and put 5000 on the table and he shut up.
