While I respect and sorta-like some of the older acts in music, I cannot for the life of me understand how mediocre albums like U2's latest can top albums from Kanye, John Legend, Mariah and others in Grammy voting.. For anyone who bears to watch the broadcast, every year seems to be a tribute to Bono,McCartney,Stevie Wonder, Springsteen. I wonder if younger acts get frustrated by the fact that Grammy voters elect the same artists every year, no matter the content/greatness of the older artists album. Just seems kinda gay that great albums dont get recognized because they haven't been around 20+ years.
There was another thread about this, but I'll respond. Except for Springsteen, you are right about the older stuff. U2 sucks..and McCartney is respectable..but shouldn't be the "main event" so to speak. A performance or two is fine, but it seemed like they were 80 percent of the show, which is stupid. U2 shouldn't have won all those major awards..they are crappy.
