Situation:
8 people left in the PS 180. Two players have a little over 50k, myself and 1 other right below 40k, 3 at 25k, and 1 shortstack. Blinds are 1k/2k with antes(forgot how much) EP, who has been somewhat aggresive and makes it 6k to go. He had about 40k to start the hand. MP big stack, has gambled in the past, flat calls. I have AJ in BB and decide to pull a squeeze play and push it in. Thoughts? I am trying to place in top 3 BTW...

In my experience, this late in the tourney, the flat call by the MP usually means a pocket pair.
Even if you get the aggressive EP to fold, MP will probably call (you said he likes to gamble) and you will be 50-50. I would fold here and look for a better spot.
Even with antes, you still have time to wait for a better spot.

I like it. Although a MP raiser and LP caller make me feel better attempting something like this, with a hand as strong as AJ it has the benefit of good value. Smaller pairs will fold to third man in, and AK or AQ wouldnt have flat called. The big risk is AK or AQ or large pairs from the raiser or medium pairs from either, and youre just a coinflip behind on those.

I couldnt really put the EP raiser on a hand, but he most likely had something like KQ. The MP I did put on a pair like 55-1010, as JJ would be unlikely sicnce I held a J, and he would reraise with better. I thought he was a good enough player to fold a hand like he had-88???

On High Stakes Poker, DN referred to a similar situation as the Barry Raise (meaning Barry Greenstein) - mind you that was a cash game, but the theory is the same. I myself would probably only do it against opponents I am familiar with though, as there are a lot of hands that better-than-average players would call that raise with in that situation, many of which we are not currently ahead of. 8)

I'm not surprised 88 would call at all. There is a decent amount of dead money in the pot before your raise and with the decent money in the 180 paid out in the last 3-4 spots he's playing the same game you are. He also has the hope that you and the big stack are duplicating a high card, probably Aces.
Hopefully you sucked out with a straight on the river?

Copper, you are slipping. Check the title of the thread.
Edit: By the way boss, I keep running into your buddy there from the 11R all over the place, and I have cracked him 3 times in the last 2 days.
