Villain is an aggressive player and has been making larger continuation bets. Is this a pretty clear push?

Thanks for the heads up. Villain bet 1,000 on the flop

I wouldnt push. We are likely either a 3:1 favorite or a 3:1 or worse underdog...in either case we dont want to push, we either want more value or we want to get out cheap.

The Ace is a scare card for him or a great card for him. I would bet about 750 and see how he reacts. That prices out the flush draw for one card as well. If he calls be cautious on the turn

Also, if you dont already, you should mix up calling and reraising when you are in the BB (OOP), but tend more toward reraising, especially with a hand that isnt likely to flop a monster, but may be ahead but difficult to play with a dry flop.

If you arent comfortable with post flop play HU or HU play in general, then I can see pushing here to end it quickly. We may catch him thinking we are bluffing and get a call with two overcards or a draw.

Copernicus, I already checked the flop & Villain bet 1,000. I didn't like the idea of leading out here. Villain is very aggressive. He knows that I know that he'll bet if I check. So why would I bet a good hand? He would read this as weakness and likely come over the top with any 2 cards. I actually think many people play this way.

I don't think you even need to call the raise pre-flop there, regardless of how aggressive the villain has been. Fold, and move on to the next hand. If the villain has done that two or three times though, take a stand and re-raise pre-flop, but if this is the first time, then let it go. 8)

Yeah, I was responding while you answered teh question about 1k bet. I think all you do is call that.

"He knows that I know that he'll bet if I check. "

Hopefully your HU play isnt as predictable. Its critical to avoid any betting patterns HU that make it easy to trap you.

King high is good here way more then enough. In fact, any ace against these aggressive players and i would push (actually i want the blinds a tad higher). Heads up is all about playing lots of pots with crappy hands, you know that, right? You don't have time to wait for AQ

I agree that we don't have time to wait, but we are out of position, and definately wont know where we stand should an ace flops and/or we miss our king/7. I fold, and turn the aggression back the next hand, regardless of my holdings. I want to make his aggression lead to a mistake, which I believe we have time to do with the blinds that low. 8)
