Pocket QQ with all club flop (UTG)

Raised 4x & received 3 callers....

Flop was Ac Qc 8c

Made a pot sized stab & got one caller.

Ac Qc 8c 5h

Made a little over pot sized bet

I am pretty sure villain has Kc here but can’t put him on AoKc or KcQo since he should have called that turn bet with either. All players in the hand were lag’s who seldom just called. Since I see my fair share of dangerous flops when I hit my sets (3 card straight/flushes) I was wondering how everybody plays them? Was that bet on the turn too aggressive/high?

:-) :-) :-)
P.S. Nice to see DN tearing it up in Tunica; lesson about what it really takes to win these things.

what you want is the five of clubs to fall 8)

i think the bet on the river was too big. if hes chasing his flush then hes getting 5-1 about, so just give him a little less than that. that way if u lose u lose less and when you win, you still get a nice amount. if he paired his ace, let him hit another one. laugh.gif

I'm assuming you mean the turn.

Second, I don't like this advise. Playing against a draw with a made hand is all about forcing the player to draw at an incorrect price. If he needs 5 to 1, but is will to call getting 2-1 why not charge him? This is one of the easiest areas to make other make mistakes. Players have tendencies to draw an much higher prices than they should be. You are simply missing value by not taking advantage of this weakness.

I went broke last night twice with flopped sets in MP against 2 flopped flushes. I have such a difficult time folding a set when a UTG player leads out with a pot size bet on a single suited flop. In the back of my head I keep telling myself: "hes protecting a low flush... fold .. fold" but I can't seem to do it. Some mysterious force takes over and moves my mouse over to the raise button.... any help would be appreciated because this is one of my major leaks.

Been there, done that. The low flushes are worse than the made large flushes as the later usually allow you to fill up.....they assume they have the nuts. I haven't kept any charts on it but am treating it like set over set & assuming its part of the game. Now when the forth suit hits I am flushed; though in a Tourny I might still need to call.

I say keep doing it. Since you're 0 for 2, you're bound to fill up some time! laugh.gif

last night was a nightmare... AA, AA, KK, KK, QQ and 2 flopped sets all went down in flames... this game can really make you feel like you have no idea what youre doing when youre running bad and invincible when youre winning... lately its been the former

Giving advise in my own thread....thats a first.

When I start to run bad, play bad or witness the unbelievable I stop playing for a while & re-read one of my old poker books. The good ones are so thick that I always find some little nugget of info to apply. I also switch poker sites for a change of pace. I just got my warning from Party that I will lose all my Party Points if I don't play for a month...nice touch from that company. Anyway, will be blowing 20k points this weekend in the 100k freeroll.

Cheers
