This was logical, although somewhat annoying, as any time you were sorting through the list and got to the 9-handed tables, someone would join ONE of the tables, the list would refresh, and you'd be stuck going through the same tables again.
A logical solution to this problem would be to sort by limit and then by table name, as the list would only jump for the creation of a new table, and even then, it wouldn't affect the location of the selected table relative to the list.
With the new update, there is no logic to the secondary sort function. Here is a screenshot immediately after sorting by limit:
