Title: Michael Tait Eliminated in 16th Place ($22,895)
Log: Michael Tait moves all in preflop with Ad-Qd, and Daniel Negreanu calls with pocket nines (9c-9h). The cards are laid out on the table, and they are waiting for the okay from the ESPN producer to put out the flop.
But there is a delay as Johnny Grooms hasn't received the go ahead. The players at the table continue talking, and Bryant King bets nobody in particular that Tait will win the hand. Then Hertzel Zalewski says he'll take the action, and they agree to bet $500 on the hand.
Unfortunately, that's not legal, and Johnny Grooms tells them they can't do it. In the course of this, Daniel Negreanu asks if anybody folded an ace or a queen. Zalewski loudly says, "I folded ace-queen. That's why I want to make the bet!"
It's not clear if he was joking or not, but since it's not allowed, King and Zalewski do NOT bet on the result of this hand. I repeat, they do NOT make the bet.
Johnny Grooms gets the go ahead from ESPN, and the flop comes Kc-7h-5d, and Negreanu states the obvious: "That's a good flop for me." The turn card is the 8c, and Tait will need an ace or a queen on the river to stay alive. The last card is the 10d, and Michael Tait is eliminated in 16th place, earning $22,895.
The next player eliminated will receive $27,475 for 15th place.
During the next break, Hertzel Zalewski and Bryant King will NOT meet out in the lobby, and Bryant King will NOT give Zalewski $500. Because that would be wrong.
