More like 20 seconds and i'm sure when Gay-Rod is yelling at V-Tek, the first thing hes thinking is "hmmmm...maybe I should take my mask off right now so if we get into a fight I won't be called a puss

Buddy lets not forget the most important part of all of this: A-Rod started a fight because Arroyo who hit the second most batters in the AL threw a CURVEBALL that hit him in the back.

Heres the thing. I was at this game. There was not enough time for tek to get his mask off. He went over and told arod to stop yelling at bronson and get his ass to first base. Then A-rod said "come on" and used his index and middle fingers to make a 'come here' motion. Varitek didnt go over to A-Rod with the intention of kicking his ass, but rather the intention of sticking up for his teammate.

So why was Gay-Rod walking to first? Because after he got hit, he had a to be a dic.khead and say something to Arroyo like he did it on purpose then V-Tek said to back off and Gay-Rod got pissed then the fight came.

Ok. this will be the first and last time I say this, because I've argued it with all my friends before.
If the Red Sox had the bankroll that the Yankees had, would you not want them to use it and maximize their team's potential?
Of course you would. Don't be ridiculous.
I love how Boston fans talk like they're some poor team that can't afford to make any acquisitions when they are the second highest paid team in the game.
Yes, The yankees didn't do much last year with the payroll, but the Red Sox, the defending champs with the second biggest roll did even less.
We both had injuries. Don't use that as an excuse.
Yes. The Yankees have money. Yes we use it. You would do the same thing, and do on a smaller level. It's the business behind baseball.

Arod was hit plenty of times by pitches. Several times by boston pitchers, and no incidents occured. There is no reason for him to just start yapping for no reason, regardless of how low your opinion is of him. Something must have been said between the two to spark the original fight. That's all I'm saying.
Fine, you were at the game. Were you on the field? Did you hear each and every word exchanged between the two?

It doesn't make sense in the other case either though.
Why would Rodriguez start jawing after getting hit by an offspeed pitch unless he believed it to be intentional?
If it was, that's a different story.
But assuming it wasn't, it wouldn't make any sense. He was barely a part of the rivalry yet, and it wouldn't make sense for a person as concerned with his image as Rodriguez to start a fight over something like that unless something was said.

It wasn't a very proud moment for either team really. The bottom line is that was unnecessary, but just added more fuel to the rivalry fire.
The real issue is the fact that it happened 2 years ago, and has no bearing on anything other than a distant memory now.

Hmm....not as interesting as I would have hoped.
I'm pretty sure that was the first time ARod was hit. He definitely was mouthing off. Not sure if Arroyo was saying anything, but it's pretty clear that ARod said "**** you. **** you. Let's go."
My favorite story was that right before things blew up Varitek told ARod that "we don't throw at .260 hitters." This is apocryphal, but funny nonetheless.
I don't think any Sox fans play it off as the Sox are a poor team just like everybody except the Yankees. They just make the point that the Yankees have about 50% more resources to work with, which amounts to being able to pay for an all-star team, while the Sox do have to work within some sort of a budget, even if it is a very large one. I think Sox fans when they make this point are only looking through the lens of the whole Yankee-Sox thing. When comparing the two teams, the Yankees have much more to work with. Fact. We're not saying we're poor, just relatively poor in the context of the rivalry.
I'm looking forward to the season. I think the Sox have had the better team the last three years (why 2003 was so disappointing...and 2005 was a mess because of injuries to both sides, so we didn't see the best either team), but next year could go either way. I don't see either team as having a significant overall edge and this should come down to the wire again.
I'm also looking forward to Johnny Damon's reception in Fenway. The proper way to play it as I see it is to cheer loudly for him when he's introduced the first time, thanking him for his time here, the championship effort, playing while hurt, and for thanking the fans on the way out, and then boo him mercilessly after that.
I'll return later with non-baseball talk, I think. Now that the insomniac army's dead, I might as well go somewhere.

ooh...I just was going to drop by to say hi and that I dig 76's avatar...and now I see a Sox-Yankees discussion.
Since no membership is required, I'd going to respectfully offer my two cents in just a moment.
go ahead LOL I'm done arguing this for at least a few hours, so you may be debating with yourself.
Your opinion is still welcome though.
Heh...arguing sports...especially when it's Red Sox/Yankees can be absoltuely exhausting. I'm not really looking to start a full on debate...I'm not even sure there's one to be had.
Anyway, thanks for welcoming the opinion...I'll welcome yours if we come to disagree (or agree for that matter). I'm not here to start any censored especially over such a potentially explosive topic.
Seriously bro LOL, Today's my day off, and I'm exhausted because I've been debating this in like 4 different threads, each time I have a different 3 or 4 people arguing the opposite point and jumping down my throat for being a New York fan.
I've lived here my whole life, and I just can't help certain things. But damn! I didn't know I was this outnumbered in here!
I'm spent. I thought discussing poker plays was tiring.

EDIT: Off Subject
I gotta share somethin with you guys, hopefully you can tell me if I did the right thing. WARNING long story.
The other night I was visiting my buddy up at college which is a couple hours away. His g/f goes to the same college and I guess she had a couple of friends I was going to try and hook up with. Cool! One of them was rather swelled and I wasn't even tryin to hit that, but the other one was pretty hot.. really petite and such. So we met up at a mutual friends place and I was just tryin to play it cool, not really paying much attention to them.. just tryin to have a good time.
Later on in the night after me and my buddy left the girls, we went out to the bar to have a few drinks. I then got a text message from his girlfriend saying that the hot one thought I was cute and wanted to get together. Again, Cool! So we met up later that night at their dorm room, things were going pretty good after we started talking.. made a couple corny jokes that she graciously laughed at lol. We put on a movie and shut off the lights, things were going right on schedule. All details aside, I ended up not hitting it by my own admissions.. I didn't really want to rush and give the appearance of a ONS. So we rounded second base and then crashed a little after.
Sometimes I think I'm too nice.. but I think somethin could be there because we ended up clicking pretty good. On a brighter note, I talked to her roommate the next day and she said that the chick I was hangin with had a great time and definitely wanted to chill with me again.
I went to bed that night so unsatisfied, but I always like leaving chicks wanting more. Which I guess worked in this case. Either way, I passed up some great a$$ and personally wasn't too happy about it.
Sorry this was so long, I needed to rant about this for days and it was just buggin me. But do you guys think I did the right thing, or should I have just hit it and got it over with?

Everybody's interpretation of the "bases" is different, so you'll have to clarify.
I don't see a problem with it. It's kind of like an investment. Sacrifice getting laid one night, to ensure it on several other nights (ideally)

QJ= "The King Cracker"
QT *Sooooted* = Ace Cracker
That's pretty much waht Ive learned from playing MTT's online.
and yes, we heard your comment the first time, but no one's justifying it with a response.

I consider rounding second to be anything except oral or doing the deed.

Heh...everything's a donkey favorite. I suppose the appeal of QJ suited is that it's uh...big and suited. It's practically AK, right? And if it's unsuited? Then it has the deception factor.

CW, Gay-Rod was hit by a curveball and Arroyo starts walking off the mound without saying A WORD and Gay-Rod starts screaming at him. If you don't remember this then you should watch the tape again. Simple as that.
