A. Seattle is OWNING.
I want all the "analysts" to apologize to all of us Seattle fans tonight.
As a lifelong Seattle fan, I'm telling you that this will NEVER happen. We are owed so many apologies it's not even funny. How about an apology for the early line on the Superbowl? How the heck is a #6 seed a 4 point favorite over the #1 seed from the other conference. There's just no way ... the lack of respect we get is absolutely unbelievable at times.
PREDICTION: Seahawks win the Superbowl 3 out of the next 4 years starting this year, and each time they make it back, they will be picked as the underdog .... even as defending champions. Just wait and see ...
By the way, I'm also a diehard fan because Jordan Babineaux (CB for the Seahawks) plays $10-$20 and $20-$40 with me at the nearby B&M. He is totally awesome ... not just as a person, but as a fish in the game too  . I'm sorry, but these guys have WAY too much money.
I know it won't happen. It's just what I'd like to see.
Actually, a bit of it happened this morning on Cold Pizza.
The guy that sits opposite Woody Paige on 1st & 10 (I forget his name) wrote a column before the NFC Championship talking about how Seattle was going to be easily beaten by Carolina and they're not a Super Bowl team. This morning, on the show, he said that Seattle was the better team and, "I was wrong."
And that's pretty cool that you play with Babineaux. I remember watching Hasselbeck when he was backing up Favre and thinking that if he ever got the chance to start, he would make an incredible QB for some team. I've been a Seattle fan every since Holmgren traded for him.
His name is Skip Bayless and I got to see that too on Cold Pizza (thank God for TiVo). In fact, I was absolutely shocked to hear him say that. He had written a scathing piece for ESPN.com about how upset he was that the pitiful Seahawks were going to disgrace his sacred Superbowl game. Nice to see we might have converted one person, although both Woody and Skip feel that the Steelers being only 3 1/2 point favs is a little low and that the line should move to 5 or 6. They also both are picking the Steelers to win, so that's typical.
As for Kowboy Koop's comments, I don't expect him to understand the huge chip that develops over time on the shoulder of a Seattle fan. Not only do we have to endure the constant deluge of disrespect from the national media, we have to endure the neverending heartbreak of being a Seattle sports fan period.
In fact, I'll go as far to say that we DESERVE this type of disrespect because of the fact that we've laid so many eggs in the past and haven't had the ability to come through when it's counted. The 1994 Sonics are an example. They are the only #1 seeded team to date to lose in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Mariners in 2001 had 116 wins and couldn't get out of the ALCS. In 1996 the Sonics made it back to the NBA Finals, only to lose to a 72 win Chicago Bulls team. And the neverending string of Seahawk failures is too long to list here.
We deserve a certain level of disrespect ... BUT, this disrespect is going to make our Superbowl victory all the sweeter because we will finally have something to point to as proof that Seattle teams CAN get it done.
