If MP is aggressive, this is standard. Much better to 3-bet aggressively when you have position instead of out of the blinds.

Cool.
I was reading some old Nate tha Great posts where he said he would usually raise this hand in position pf even against an UTG raiser in 6-max.
His pfr stats make this raise easy because his range is so large, but I think I would rather be up against a 25/15/2 type player who plays more straightforward.

I think you're probably right near the borderline here.
25% of hands could be, for example, any pair, any A, KT, KJ, KQ, and QJ.
In terms of equity, you're almost exactly 50% against this range. But you have position and the potential for dead money. But you also have 3 players still to act.
When you catch an A, you likely won't win much (he'll only give you action if he has an A too, and you'll often lose to a better kicker or split with a worse one).
He's raising in MP, so he's probably raising a bit tighter than his average.
Make it ATs on the button and I'd definitely like it against this guy. Here I'm not sure.

sure why not
Screech,
I would never discourage you from playing just about anything preflop.
I think a raise is better than a call here.
Fold Equity, and obvioulsy, folding better Aces.

this is such an easy raise.
One player limps from UTG and im in MP1 with A8s i usually raise. I definately raise A9s.

Did you notice that this was a 3-bet of a raiser (not a raise of a limper)?

yes, and its still an easy raise. Folding is a bad option, and CCing is an even worse option. THe villian will open from this position with a lot oflesser hands then our holding. We can also possibly make him fold a better ace if we both miss

Keith,
if this was a 25/15/2 type player, is it still an easy 3-bet?
How low would you go with a suited ace?

yeah. Granted, I'm a 26/18 player, but, with that one extra fold in front of me, and seeing a tighter player behind me, I'm raising with a wider range then if I'm utg. So with that in mind, A8s is looking pretty good there. A8 or A7 is my threshold though as far as Suited Aces go. KJs is probably in my range too for three betting. Against this villian, K10s *might* be in that range too as that would depend on how he's running and the current table conditions(namely if the table is slightly on the wild side already)
