In your honour, I'm gonna play this disc on the way to my gamblooing today.

My favorite track? The Call of Ktulu, of course.

After that:

More Ted Leo, because I can't get enough

I've got a whole Bad Company rock block planned

And then I think I'm gonna transition into some Zep

Then probably Deltron 3030

Sometimes, I jones for Deltron 3030

I was just listening to this CD a little bit yesterday....I am a big fan of anything that Dan the Automator produces. I have the song "Things You Can Do" stuck in my head....and of course the intro song, "3030", is the shit.

here are some bands that havent really been mentioned that you guys should check out.

also- can somebody please listen to the swans?

since they are the best band nobody has ever heard of(and one of the best bands period), i am compelled to keep mentioning them till one person listens to them. if you want a reasonably good review of these albums, go to

I'd just like to point out that I'm pretty sure someone's mentioned all of the bolded artists. I like the Swans. I'm not the biggest fan, but I dig them alright.

I definitely own lots of Stereolab and PJ Harvey stuff.

yea, stereolab- emperor tomato ketchup was mentioned, and pj harvey in passing. as far as i know im the only one whos ever mentioned the swans, and dimseven the only person to respond to one of those posts.

stereolab- emperor tomato ketchup and peng! are my 2 favorite albums of theirs.

ill admit that the swans are definitely not for everyone(or even most people), but if you like any of the harder bands like NIN, tool, a perfect circle, etc I think you really should listen to the swans at least once just in case.

i guess it goes without saying that i consider them the best darker or hardcore band ever.

As a Weezer fan since the Blue Album, I have to say that I love Make Believe. It's Weezer's best album since Pinkerton, and at the moment I even prefer it to Pinkerton.

While I like Make Believe, I don't think it's better than Pinkerton, but it has some great songs like Hold Me, Peace, and Pardon Me. If some of the other songs were as good as those 3, I might agree with you.

As for which Weezer albums I like the best:

Blue>Pinkerton>Make Believe>Green>Maladroit.

When I was in Middle School, I was a huge Metallica fan, so I have a soft spot for them. I got to meet the band backstage once, and they were pretty nice. Especially FakeReplacementBassist Jason Neustead, who I imagine is very insecure since everyone knows he's only there 'cause Cliff died.

Today

Smashing Pumpkins- Siamese Dream

Soundgarden- Badmotorfinger

and (two of my guilty pleasures)

Strung Out on OK Computer (string arrangements of OK Computer)

Christopher O'Reilly- True Love Waits (Radiohead songs, played by a clasically trained pianist)

Isn't the phrase "best songs" kind of subjective? If that's what he likes, then that's what he likes....personally I can't listen to anything they released after the Black Album. I much prefer the `80s stuff, even though I don't listen to any of it anymore. The video for "One" creeped me out when I was a kid too...

I call LAME.

Real Metallica fans agree that "And Justice for All" is the greatest Metallica album. I happen to agree, though Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are both right behind.

The Black album is a lot more accessible, but it's definitely less "Metallica" than their earlier stuff. That was when they decided "Fuck this... Metal doesn't pay the bills as well." It's not a bad album, it's just the beginning of the cycle to which "Load" and "ReLoad" were the logical end.

1) And it Stoned Me

2) Moondance

3) Crazy Love

4) Caravan

5) Into the Mystic

6) Come Running

7) These Dreams of You

8 ) Brand New Day

9) Everyone

I don't think the Black Album is best at all, prolly my 3rd or 4th fav Metallica album. I used those songs because those are the most popular and most well known to someone not a fan of Metallica. And The Unforgiven isn't even close to one of their best songs. The lyrics aren't the greatest, but the guitar solos aren't bad, but not their best song by far.

Master of Puppets pwns all other Metallica albums when looked at as a whole.

Lightning is close, Justice is a bit too epic, even they admit they got a bit carried away on some of the songs, however Orion is still a great one

Favorite Metallica songs:

1. Fade to Black

There are some songs that I like on their Black and later albums...like Unforgiven I and II, and some other songs worth listening to, but nowhere near the quality as the above three albums where you could listen to them over and over again.

My ranking, which I think is pretty standard:

OK Computer >> Kid A > The Bends >> Amnesiac >>> Hail to the Thief

If we had to start ranking EPs and shit, too, it could get tougher. I'd probably have to toss My Iron Lung in after Amnesiac and before Hail to the Thief.

Today:

Guided by Voices- Bee Thousand

I just think this is such a damn cool album. It just never lulls, and everything Pollard writes is just so NEAT. I mean, fucking "Gold Star for Robot Boy"- what an awesome song. How he crammed so many good pop songs into one sub 40min album is mindboggling

Anthony and the Johnsons- I am a Bird Now (and other stuff)

He's growing on me, and everytime he sings I feel like crying

Love is All- 9 times that same song
