Precisely, except inversely related to proximity....

I bet Chileans look at you funny when you blast Dee Dee Warwick

Wang

people from the states do too my man.

funny story: last year when everyone was getting their car and putting subs and amps in them to blast rap, my friend got some for a really good price. unfortunately, he doesnt like much of the lil jon, 3-6 mafia, other shit people banged in their cars. so i made him an absolutely ridiculous mix for me and him to roll around to with the subs up full blast. here is the infamous "silly mix":

Junior Senior- "Move Your Feet"
Wham- "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"
Cyndi Lauper- "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
ABBA- "Dancing Queen"
Bonnie Tyler- "Total Eclipse Of The Heart"
Fleetwood Mac- "Edge Of Seventeen"
Avril Lavigne- "Complicated"
Eiffel 65- "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"
Falco- Rock Me Amadeus
Backstreet Boys- I Want It That Way
Fred Astaire- Putting On The Ritz
Europe- The Final Countdown
Eddie Murphy- My Girl Wants To Party All The Time
Milli Vanilli- Girl You Know Its True
Tegan And Sara- Walking With A Ghost
Ace Of Base- I Saw The Sign
Supergrass- We Are Young
Snow- Informer

Needless to say, we got some funny looks. the best one i can remember was doing laps around the school after our basketball team had just beaten the poorest, rowdiest school in town. As all the assorted gangsters, wanksters, and baby-mommas were pouring out of the gym already pissed off, me and my buddy leedy were bumping WHAM at full blast.

p.s. if you want to add any tracks you think would be good for something like this, please do, as this summer promises to be that of Silly Mix #2.

I'm out of here for now, but I'll think about it. A friend of mine makes mixes like this for serious because he enjoys them, so i'm sure if I spend 10 minutes in his car it'll be no problem.

I'd considering giving Hanson- MmmBop a prominent spot on the mix.

Also, there's a song some little Bow Wow type fake kid rapper remixed, I think that's hilarious. I like Candy or something. I dunno. But it would be perfect.

I am filled with an unhealthy amount of rageahol after getting my wallet lifted at the casino last night, finding out my windshield wipers wouldn't work in the pouring rain, and sleeping alone and cold in a McDonald's parking lot until 6AM.

So I'm listening to
Rage Against the Machine
At the Drive In- Relationship Command

and a random Punk mix that includes the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Nixons, and some other more hardcore punk bands that I randomly found on the street

I'm going to go workout while listening to Rollins Band, finally get some sleep after a long day dealing with worthless bureaucrazies, unhelpful casino officials, and what I'm certain was a sub-human police officer.

Rollins band = best band ever

The Wire (the only music publication worth reading, imo--and yes, that includes pitchfork) chose The Books' "Lost and Safe" as their record of the year. This seems like a band that Wang, mbreon and co would like. I don't get it. What am I missing? I didn't like their first record, don't like this one.
mk
I know you guys did this earlier, but I didn't chime in.

End of year lists are so cliche, but I liked these records last year (in no particular order):
[list]
New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Sigur Ros - Takk
Common - Be
Jamie Lidell - Multiply
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
Kanye West - Late Registration
Animal Collective - Feels
Paul Kalkbrenner - Tatu-Tata
Alva Noto - Transpray
Ellen Allien - Thrills
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine (JB version)
MF Doom & Dangermouse - Dangerdoom
MIA - Arular
[list]
CardWarfare
current playlist

-"Take a picture" - Filter
-"Heroes" - Wallflowers
-"Wonderwall" - Oasis
-"Stellar" - Incubus
-"Iris" - Goo Goo Dolls
-"Soco Ameretto Lime" - Brand New
-"Do You Right" - 311
-"My Sundown" - Jimmy Eat World
-"The Middle" - Jimmy Eat World
-"Dancing Days" - Led Zeppelin
-"Fool in the Rain" - Led Zep
-"Tonight, Tonight" - Smashing Pumpkins
-"In This Diary" - The Ataris
-"Pardon Me" - Incubus
-"All You Wanted" - Michelle Branch

A girl I've been hanging out with made me a mix of songs that made her "think of me."

So don't flame the Michelle Branch. I like her anyway.

I like The Wire, too. Pitchfork has become a bit of a parody of itself. Some of their reviews over the past 18 months make me think of an angry bitter highschool kid.

That being said, I still read the site at least weekly, because

a) Their news/wire service is good

cool.gif Their concert reviews are good

c) They prominently feature lists, which is always +EV in the Book of Wang

d) Their tastes more closely align with mine (what a rhyme) than most publications, excepting a few notables (The Wire)

I haven't listened to any of The Books' music yet, though I have 2 separate post-its near my computer (2 of about 3500) suggesting I download some. Maybe I'll do that today, instead of continuing "Rageathon 2K6."

Naw, fuck that. More hatred.

Well that certainly puts things in perspective. Sorry to hear man.

Well I was listening to the stuff I haven't played in a while. Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind, COC's Animosity, Tool's Opiate, and Gwar's Scumdogs of the Universe. However after hearing this, I might go home and pop in some Jewel. By comparison, my life is just like bad poetry. Bad poetry that made Jewel the highest paid American poet in history....Life is cruel.
