U2--Joshua Tree (old school)

Incubus--Make Yourself

Switchfoot? That's in the same catagory as Alter Bridge.

Eh, not really. Just listen for yourself. I suck at comparing one group to another in "genres."

Alter Bridge is the new Creed and I hate Creed so I'll never be able to give them a chance even though they probably deserve it since they got rid of that terrible front man.

Anyone listen to Joe Pass? Normaly when it comes to jazz I'm more a piano guy, but I keep coming back to his stuff. I've also been listening to Les Paul a lot. Not bad.

I have no clue what indie is, but for emo I like fallout boy, amber pacific, hawthorne heights, rufio, and the used... I'm not even sure all these bands fall into emo or just punk

can someone explain to me the difference with all these genres?

I'm loving this thread, getting a lot of new quality songs I never knew existed

recently I have been playing Denis Leary's song "Asshole" a disproportial amount.

well according to my brother if you think fall out boy is emo you are a poser

well the main difference from emo and punk is 1/2 the sound and 1/2 lyrics

for the big differences in sound is look at bands like silverstein or senses fail, as they kind of headline the emo genre, their guitar sounds dont mainly consist of the 3 chord ballads punk bands generally put out, also the vocals are distincfully more whiner than the majority of punk bands

Now when you compare the lyrics, punk generally goes for more political, and what goes on in civilization, more than heartbreak/relationships as emo does

bands that kinda borderline each genre:
mxpx - more punk than emo
alkaline trip - more emo than punk

hoped this helped?

explain this....orgasms?

like just real good music or actual orgasms?
avsfan
Reiko Ike was a sexy bad girl in Japanesse cinema. So The best way to explain it is Excellent studio music with sexiness and emotion. The song I am listening to right now she is crying all sexy over the music. Of course she does sing too but the sexy emotional stuff makes the albumn weird/unusual.

I hope this helps.

and yes the orgasms sound real like.

Yeah...
I like it when the girls stop by..
In the summer
Do you remember...
Remember when we met..
That summer

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer

Hip Hop Marmalade spic and span
Met you one summer and it all began
You're the best girl that I ever did see
The great Larry Bird, Jersey 33
When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespere wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
Call me Willy Whistle cuz I can't speak baby
Sumthin in your eyes went and drove me crazy

Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer then went back home
Macauly Culkin was in Home Alone
Fell deep in love but now we ain't speakin
Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer

Cherry Pez cold crush rock star boogie
Used to hate school so I had to play hooky
Always been hip to the BBoy Style
Known to act wild and make a girl smile
Love New Edition and the Candy Girl
Reminds me of you becuz you rock my world

You come from Georgia where the peaches grow
They drink lemonade and speak real slow
You love hip hop and rock n roll
Dad took off when you were 4 years old
There was a good man named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby when you're near
You love fun dip and cherry coke
I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer

In the summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a hip hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike

Bugaloo shrimp and pogo sticks
My mind takes me back there oh so quick
Let you off the hook like my man Mr. Lipit
Think about that summer and I bug cuz I miss it
Like the color purple macaroni and cheese
Ruby red slippers and a bunch of trees
Call you up but whats the use
I like Kevin Bacon but I hate Footloose
Came in the door, I said it before
I think I'm over you but I'm really not sure
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
For the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer..Since that summer

In the summer girls come and summer girls go
Some are worthwhile and some are so so
Summer girls come and summer girls go
Some are worthwhile and some are so so

Summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a hip hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits

Sure, emo sucks, some punk is good, but most "punk" bands now blow.

"Indie" if you want to call that a genre is the best.

Far and away.

The bolded portions have inspired me. I haven't spun any Can in a long time. For some reason, I only have a few Can songs on my computer, but I've got at least 2 CDs floating around somewhere. I'm'a get on that and Can it up later.

And I haven't listened to Sunny Day Real Estate in a while. Good call.

Also: BigKG- Yes, you've mentioned that I rock a few times previously, and I'd just like to acknowledge that, yes, I do rock. You're much cooler than I am, though, because your music sensibilities were in place ages before mine. In highschool, I was like a spider trapped in a deep dirt hole, scurrying along, knowing just enough about the outside world to know I was trapped. Every once in a while I'd get halfway up the wall, only to fall back into the darkness.

their music on myspace is okay..it is live, so the quality isnt that great

and before you're like, "why are you uncredited on the album?" i should inform you that i joined after they recorded. the drummer ken and bass player adam are my lifelong bandmates. they played for a while as a trio (while i was finishing school), recorded, and then i joined up with them after i graduated. we played a bunch of shows in the midwest and then summarily broke up over monetary discrepancies. it was kind of a shame.
