I'm of the impression that the fanship payoff for that band is pretty binary. I'm not a fan. There is a chick in that band who I wanna' poon, to an extent irrationally beyond her measurable hottness, though.

My sister was pissed that I didn't get here anything for Christmas. I told her that it wasn't intentional; that I simply didn't think of her at all for the past month. That probably was the wrong defense.

saw the preview for it when i saw no country for old men, which was also the shit.

saw that slantmagazine.com loves it, their movie reviews are on a less douchy pitchfork level as far as liking and appreciating good movies that maybe dont get as much love from the mainstream crowd imo.

Good movie, excellent soundtrack.

Speaking of soundtracks, on mk's praise, I picked up Jonny Greenwood's score to There Will Be Blood. I think I wanna see the movie before I listen to it though.

Here's my mix of favorite songs from 2007. The rules were to create one CD worth of songs, limited to one song per artist/album, so there are a lot of worthy songs left off. Also, I didn't listen to Strawberry Jam or Person Pitch, as well as a slew of other records that have been highly praised (From Here We Go To Sublime, for example), or a lot of records that came out later in the year. I did recently pick up all the above mentioned albums though, and I'm looking forward to checking them out.

LVPro's Top Songs Of 2007:

All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem (from Sound of Silver)
I know everybody loved this song, and it was on everybody's top 10 list, so it's cliche, but fuck it, it's a great, great, great song.

Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Radiohead (from In Rainbows)
Hard to pick just one song from this album, but I think I made a good choice. It's hard to make a bad one, though. The runner-up was probably All I Need.

My Rights Versus Yours - The New Pornographers (from Challengers)
A pretty solid representation of what The New Pornos are all about, I think, and one of the catchiest tunes of the year.

Us Placers - CRS [Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell] (from the Can't Tell Me Nothin' mixtape)
A hip-hop song that features two of my favorite hip-hop artists, and samples Thom Yorke. Seems like just an excuse to get more Yorke on the mix, but it's really a pretty quality ditty.

Desire - Pharoahe Monch (from Desire)
One of the more overlooked albums from this year, I think.

Rain - Bishop Allen (from Bishop Allen & The Broken String)
A pretty up-lifting, head-bobbing song. Since I live in Seattle, where it rains 300 days a fucking year, it makes me feel slightly better when I'm walking in the rain and this one pops up on my iPod.

Leave Your Name - R. Kelly (from Double Up)
Easily the funniest album of the year, in my estimation. R. Kelly is a under appreciated pop genius. This song is his answering machine message, and it basically boils down to him telling you that he'd be happy to answer the phone, but he's likely "smoking some trees" or "having a little sex" and is thus too busy to speak to you.

Four Winds - Bright Eyes (from Cassadaga)
I probably only like this song because every time I hear it, I think of the hoedown scene from Back To The Future, Part III.

Plus Ones - Okkervil River (from The Stage Names)
Another extremely difficult album to pick a favorite from.

Tablespoon Of Codeine - John Vanderslice (from Emerald City)
Kind of a trippy song that, as best I can tell, is about fighting addiction. The Slicer also puts on one hell of a live show.

If You Got The Money - Jamie T (from Panic Prevention)
To me, Jamie T is everything I wished Mike Skinner was. Clever, a bit different, but with enough pop sensibility to put together a good hip-hop tune. I'm not running down The Streets, but I prefer Jamie T.

Finer Feelings - Spoon (from Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga)
A song that makes me want to dance around the room like a goddamn mental patient. I love this song.

Still Got Love - Blue Scholars (from Bayani)
My vote for song of the year. Sabzi (DJ for Blue Scholar and Common Market) does the soul sample thing as well or better than anybody in hip-hop today, but I don't think very many people outside of the Pacific Northwest know it. I also really dig the whole socially-conscious hip-hop thing, and this song (and album, and group, for that matter) embodies it as well as anybody. I'm pretty sure KRS-One is a fan.

Impossible Germany - Wilco (from Sky Blue Sky)
Call it "dad rock" if you want, but I think Sky Blue Sky was one of the most kickass, fun to listen to records of 2007. Jeff Tweedy + just enough guitar wankery = a fun listen, if nothing else. It's indulgent... but not too indulgent.

For the record, I listened to Camera Obscura's Let's Get Out Of This Country while I wrote this list.
Dirtydutch

you know, I never really gave Ear Drum a good solid listen. In fact, I kinda sorta forgot it came out this year.

Guess I'll be spinning it soon.

One song I reallllllly wanted to include, but couldn't because I had already used a Kanye song, was Classic (Better Than I've Ever Been) by Kanye, KRS-One, Nas, and Rakim. The original was produced by Rick Rubin, but I prefer the DJ Premier version. If you haven't heard it:

It's so good, it's pretty interchangable with Us Placers, I think.

Yeah, upon further review I feel the same way. I was a little disappointed upon first listen, mostly because I always expect progressive bands to be, well, more progressive as time goes on. So I shelved the record after a week, and then started listening to it again in late November, and discovered that I enjoyed it more thoroughly. I think "Either Way" is the track that I would have included on a 10-song bonus year-end list.

I think that was probably the biggest knock against the record in most of the reviews I read.

Either Way was the alternate song from that album I considered, actually. I had trouble picking just one song from that album, as well as the albums from Okkervil River, the New Pornographers, Radiohead, and Spoon.

Intervention - Arcade Fire

Push (Ft. Showtime, Mela Machinko, Tower Of Power) - Pharoahe Monch

(This song wasn't my first choice from this, my favorite hip-hop album of the year, but I think it's actually a better choice. He holds it all in 'til like the last 15 bars, and you're waiting for the verse, and then all of the sudden he blows it all over you ****ing face.)

The Hand That Leads You - Percee P

(This one really went under the radar, but Percee's flow is ****in' virtuosic.)

Pacemaker - Jamie T

Relative Surplus Value - The Weakerthans

(This record connected with me in weird way that it might not with you, but if not...sucks for you.)

Unless It's Kicks - Okkervil River

Boyz - M.I.A.

The Show - Talib Kweli

Ride 4 My Niggas - Lil Wayne

Chores - Animal Collective

(This selection is where I realized that making this ****ing thing after you peckerwoods had already picked the bones clean was a task that would leave me positively bone-weary.)

I Wonder - Kanye West

Livin' In The Future - Bruce Springsteen

Casting Agents and Cowgirls - Busdriver

(I'm sick-to-death of it, after the treatment I've given it, but at one point this was my hip-hop track-of-the-year. It's probably a little cute and pretentious, and that whole record suffers from feeling a bit like a tired-but-brilliant Daily Show rant, but that's The Bus's charm.)

Swishas and Dosha - UGK

(Everyone's list seems to contains "International Players Anthem," but I think this, the track before it, is nearly as good.)

Windowsill - Arcade Fire

(You're lucky I had to cut the third song from this album.)

Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

(This song may only work in the context of the movie [Once], and it's got some cheesiness goin' on, if you wanna' be all cynical about it, but great film, great soundtrack.)

Little Brother (Electric) - Grizzly Bear

Yolanda's House (feat. Raekwon & Method Man) - Ghostface Killah

(I'm not sure how I feel about that record. I think it's above average simply on the merit of Ghost's voice, though.)

Last Flowers - Radiohead

Skinny Love - Bon Iver

(I love this album. I upped it a few pages back, if you missed it [it's hard to gank]; as far as I can recall, it's the best breakup album of the year.)

If you're interested, sit down with Fear of a Black Tangent and a pair of headphones, and really pay attention to the lyrics. It might be repetitive, but it's razor-sharp. I can't imagine that his show is very representative of his genius.

Yeah, I actually liked his earlier stuff (Oh You're So Silent, Jens; When I Said I Wanted to be Your Dog) more than Kortedala, but I think I'm in the minority. "Silvia," "A Man Walks Into a Bar," and "Pocketful of Money" are probably my 3 favorite Lekman tracks.

I recently got an ipod and loaded all the CD's ive bought in the last 15 years onto it and like to just shuffle. One thing that has occured to me after listening to some music I havent heard in years is that Soundgarden is a very underated and underappreciated group. I guess they got overshadowed by Nirvana and Pearl Jam but there stuff is pretty damn good. Maybe noww that Audioslave is no more a reunion could be in the works somewhere down the line. deffinatly one concert I wouldnt miss.

Go to utorrent.com and download the free software.

Go to torrent-finder.com and type in whatever artist you are looking for in the search bar.

A list of items will come up, find the one with the highest amount of seeders (under where it says Seed, seeders, etc. obviously).

Click on the one you want, then (assuming you're running Firefox) click on the file by where it says download or torrent download or something similar.

Choose Save to Disk*, then when it downloads select Open and a box should appear with all the individual files listed. They will all already be checked, select OK and you're good to go.

*You could just choose Open here to jump immediately to the download, but I do Save to Disk so that if it messes up, I close it on accident, my computer turns off, etc. I can just select it off the desktop to start it up from where it left off immediately.

Hope that helped.
