A very good list. I guess you're much more of a fan than Emergency and I than I am, but other than that it's pretty similar to what mine would be.

Though, I would probably have to find some space for Ágætis Byrjun, Odelay, If You're Feeling Sinister, Homogenic, and maybe HTTT.

I've never really listened to all that much Sigur Ros. I like Odelay, but I think I like Midnite Vultures almost as much, which makes picking one difficult. Either way, I don't think either of them approaches my top 10. HTTT could've made it, but I definitely liked the Kid A, OK Computer, and The Bends significantly more, making it tough to rationalize putting it in the top ten.

Don't like Bjork enough to have her in the top 10 (though I do like her).

Some really tough albums to leave off (vaguely in order):

Bonnie Prince Billy- I See a Darkness

The Wrens- The Meadowlands

Dr. Octagon- Dr. Octagonecologist

Interpol- Turn on the Bright Lights

DJ Shadow- Endtroducing

I'm sure there are plenty I'm not thinking of.

Yeah, my list is a joke, because in all honesty, I'd have to sit down and come up with a pretty complicated system to weigh a handful of factors I can't keep in my head.

A rough draft probably looks something like:

1) OK Computer

2) Kid A

3) Emergency & I

4) Aeroplane over the Sea

5) Soft Bulletin

6) The Moon and Antarctica

7) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

8) Madvilliany

9) The Bends

10) Person Pitch

I just realized that Kill the Moonlight by Spoon has to be on there somewhere. I'd probably cut Madvilliany or Person Pitch. Yeah, I'd cut Person Pitch.

Sorry, Person Pitch, you're out. Kill the Moonlight's DHing for the the pitcher today.

Just had to mention that.

Really? In what sense? I think it holds up incredibly well. It might be the fact that I'm in the perfect phase of my life to appreciate the theme of the album (mid-twenties discontent), but I I dunno. I still think it's really fucking awesome, and don't have any qualms with having it that high.

I'm sure I mentioned it more than once. Perhaps you enjoy it so much because you are a faggot? I'm pretty sure that's the explanation for my love-affair with the album.

I'm listening to Michigan: The Great Lakes State by Sufjan Stevens today. I live in Michigan and grew up right outside Flint. Makes it fun.

I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in concert last night at Webster Hall in NYC. The venue was quite small and allowed me to get pretty close up to the band. They were touring off a recently released EP (which I hadn't listened to) so a lot of their set came from songs off of that record. Nevertheless, the band put on a pretty good show. Karen O is an excellent front woman. She came out dressed in an absurd outfit, danced across the stage the entire time, screamed, writhed, jerked, spit, bounced, and flailed. Their music sounded very good and remained true to the album versions.

My only complaint about the show was the audience. I feel that I'm getting a little too old for the whole wild concert pit thing (I'm 22, lol). I'm fine with dancing around during a show, but I really can't stand being pushed, shoved, and having people jump on my feed and rub their hair in my face. I enjoyed the concert much more when I was able to wriggle a little more room in front of myself and when the Yeah Yeah Yeahs started playing more songs from Fever to Tell.

i think it's the guitar playing. it's very mid-late 90s emo, all the major 9 chords and what not. i love it, though, don't get me wrong.

I might see what you're saying in terms of the guitar sounding "mid-to-late 90s," but the time signatures and vocals are super-unique (or at least not super typical), and the riffs are mega-kickass. I never really thought of The Dismemberment Plan as emo sounding. They don't seem whiny enough, and the post-punky DC sound they've always rocked doesn't scream "emo" to me. I mean, they don't exactly remind me of Alkaline Trio or Death Cab for Cutie. Some of the subject material they cover -- isolation and discontent and loneliness-- on Emergency & I might be right in emo's wheelhouse, but the way they approach the material has always struck me as pretty sincere and nonstandard.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is that Travis Morrison is really awesome. I love Change, too. A LOT. Maybe I'll listen to that tonight. I haven't heard it in a while.

I also agree that (cross) is a pretty sweet album. What's with MTV playing that shit, and other music I like from time to time?

I had this problem, 'til this spring.

First it was that I was a teenager with little money, and didn't care that much. Then It was the fact that only like three of the shitty southern rock bands of the 20 bands (20 at most) I liked were alive and touring, and for those acts I had to fight all the 60-year-old men for tickets.

And last summer when my taste change, I isolated myself, musically, from my friends. Luckily, employing the pure awesomeness that is Return to Cookie Mountain, among others, I was able to flip my older brother (the nonNickelback one), and since pretty much everyone comes to Atlanta, and I'm about 10 minutes from most major venues, I'm rollin' on fat 22"s, baby boi.
