Glad to see that this thread was still running in my 50-60 page absence.

That said, I have been listening exclusively to Steely Dan (one of my favorite bands) over the last few days. That run of 4 albums, Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied, The Royal Scam, and Aja are among my favorite albums.

I never really listened to The Knife that much before. I recently started listening to them again, and I'm beginning to realize why they get all the praise that they do.

The Knife- Silent Shout

I'm pretty into Return to Cookie Mountain again. That and a lot of Prince Paul stuff.

Have absetloutly no idea what majority of the artists on this page are. Yet, I wasn't born in the 70's to hear about it either. lol

I'm listening to a 30 song playlist on my iPod that includes:

Radiohead
Joanna Newsom (Monkey vs. Bear, Sadie)
TV on the Radio
Sufjan Stevens
Subtle

It's working out for me. Also, my mom and dad are both humming and singing "Heartbeats" by The Knife while wandering around the house. Last time I ever play my music out loud.

The Pusher - Steppenwolf

Words and music by Hoyt Axton

You know I've smoked a lot of grass
O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die

God damn, The Pusher
God damn, I say The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love grass in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your body
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

God damn, The Pusher
God damn, God damn the Pusher
I said God damn, God, God damn The Pusher man

Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Pusher man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun

God damn The Pusher
Gad damn The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man

After MK sang the praises of Grizzly Bear in the "Pitchfork Lists" thread, I thought I'd give them a shot. I like them. I think the reviews I read always mentioned that people say they're like Animal Collective, but that they deserve their own little niche. I'll agree, cautiously.

Naw. For some reason when I listen to hiphop, I hate downloading it (especially ghost's stuff, because he's always got like 200 tracks and shit) so I usually get out to Best Buy and just buy the CD. I'll probably get it in the next week.

Yeah, I bought it when I was Christmas shopping for other people. I think I ended up spending more money on myself than anyone else.

My extended family always has a little gift exchange thingy, where we can steal gifts and stuff, whatever that's called. Anyway, my brother and I collude every year, and chop whatever we get down the middle. There's always a few BestBuy giftcards, and we usually have a little system worked out that guarantees we get at least one, and can usually grease a palm here or there to get the other one, too. We make the game no fun.

Anyway, it's tomorrow, and I'm probably going to go to BestBuy and get More Fish tomorrow after everyone leaves.

i'm not a big animal collective fan. grizzly bear have a little bit of that spirit, but they're way more melodic and more into songs than noise. some of the melodies on yellow house are mccartney/lennon-esque. love his voice too.

That's the first thing I thought, too. They really really remind me of the Beatles at times. I'll listen to that CD again tonight while I play video games, and point out the parts that remind me of Beatles songs.

Beatlesque? What is this Yellow House of which you speak?

Just got Beatles - Love.....wow that 3-part harmony at the beginning of Because is simply amazing.

Also, anyone have Pete Droge-Small Time Blues? I had, lost it, and can't find it again.

Rammstein is a pretty good listen if you're sharpening corroded, fragmented, probably-blood-soaked blades on some type of makeshift gridingwheel; preparing to do battle in a post-apocalyptic war-zone – or maybe getting ready to rape some children or animals or something – but otherwise I steer clear.

Yeah, we've actually done battle. I'm the guy with the 87 Suburban with the roof cut off -- old milk-style jugs fastened to the sides with netting or something. You remember, I think the jugs were full of gasoline, but I don't recall. I also had on football shoulder pads, but fitted with spike on the shoulder cups, for no reason. I think we used to have the same homeroom.
