Haven't really been listening to anything new as of late, if any of you have any good suggestions I'm all ears.
I realized that I haven't listened to Modest Mouse in almost 5 months, that's a shame. Therefore, The Moon and Antarctica and The Lonesome Crowded West are being played nonstop.
I had to track-bump this thread down. I've been listening to a whole lot of Izzle Bizzle and his gang lately.
I have been listening to:
"Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks"
and
"Lonesome Crowded West"
The song "Night on the Sun" is probably my favorite Mouse offering, but they've always been in my top 5 all-time bands (below Radiohead and Zeppelin, but ahead of The Who and Jadakiss)

I don't think they're all that sweet, but I don't have the violent anti-Killers reaction to them that most Hipsters do. I think they suffer from classic Popularity Backlash. "They're getting radioplay AND my little sister likes them? I hate them."
I'll admit they write a pretty catchy single, I just hate the production levels. Seems like a little too much. But for some reason I have a feeling the production is going to be what MK likes about them. Or something.
I've hardly listened to Sam's Town at all.
Bottom Line: I can listen to them, and bob my head to the singles with no self-conciousness, but don't have them on my iPod.

Yeah, I think you're pretty much spot-on with the popularity backlash thing. I admit that I myself initally shunned them as an overproduced flash in the pan, but after living with those singles off Hot Fuss, I really kind of realized how good some of those songs are. Mr. Brightside is obviously catchy as hell, but I really like 'On Top' and 'Jenny Was a Friend' too. And 'All These Things' is a v v good song. The first album is VERY produced and too calculated for my tastes...Alan Moulder mixed it, so of course it sounds great. I really didn't come around on Hot Fuss until I heard the Jacques LuCont remix of Mr. Brightside, which is probably the best remix ever, imo. It prompted me to revisit the the whole album and give it a fair shake.
I've been listening to Sam's Town a lot the past couple of days, and I think there are a few good songs, but it falls a little short. Like Hot Fuss, Side B is really weak. 'Bling' is a f
ucking awesome song though. Awesome.

Yeah, I don't know much about music, but I like to think I can generally tell the difference between "decent" and "crappy."
I think it's safe to say that "Ys" is superbly, superbly decent. I feel kinda gay listening to a harpist. Which is a bonus.

We clearly need to put out an album. I've got some fresh-to-death lyrics around that would fit nicely.
Lyrical miracle
Crunk and satirical
The rhymes I'm 'bout to spit, kid: increasingly empirical
My game's the highest hight; rapper's delight
I've got the Elements of Style, like them cats Stunk and White
Hold your moms' hand tight;
You've got no place in a mic fight
Stay in the tomb; no resurrection; you ain't Christ-like
I bend M.C's like like a reflective prism bends light
Their asses sore like a kid in prison -- you're a sweetboy, right?
I pull like a stunt
You're liable to front
M.C's on the hunt
Got more flow than a cunt
Bitches blowing smoke like a Siamese blunt
Conjoined at the hip
With rhymes so sick
I've go rappers are crying; more sensitive than a clit
I have a lot more where that came from (largly from real rappers, from whom I've board-line ripped several of these off).

"Hold your moms' hand tight;
