What album are you listening to? Endtroducing? I was introduced to this album in high school and it blew me away at the time....

Yes. And it is blowing me away. I was reading some stories pertaining peoples first experiences with Dj Shadow, and somehow, they amplify the effect.

I could make an argument for Summerteeth or for Mermaid Avenue, which wasn't mentioned on your original list (even though it is a collaborative effort and not really their music, but still a great album), I think Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is their opus. That album is Wilco's OK Computer. It will be the album they are remembered for down the road.

The correct order:

1) YHF
2) Being There
3) Summer Teeth
4) A Ghost is Born
5) Some Uncle Tupelo stuff
9) AM

I don't like AM. And I don't count Billy Bragg collabos.

Wang

Upon further review...

You guys are right. For me, it's YHF, A Ghost is Born, Summer Teeth, Being There. I love the first disc of Being There, but the 2nd disc doesn't grab me as much. I don't much like AM either. I haven't listened to much of the Billy Bragg stuff.

I saw Tweedy live solo a few months back...it was absolutely amazing.

This is the first and ONLY time I will ever use this acronym. Only because you made a Clockwork Orange reference.

QFT

I don't count the Uncle Tupelo stuff on my list, but more or less, your list is correct. Might switch around Summerteeth with Being There, but YHF is still the best by far.

EDIT: Nevermind on the rest.

Where did this acronym originate? I always assumed it meant "Quit F*cking Talking". Silly me. My bad, will have to go back and edit the last post. My apologies to the Wangster for my semi-rant that has now been deleted.

Anyway, going to listen to a little Rilo Kiley today .... any band that is proud enough to have an alumni of Salute Your Shorts on it is OK by me....

I am also digging the new Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris album. I am not much of a country fan, but I dig Emmylou. Knopfler is a fantastic guitar player as well....

Not sure where it originated, but I have seen a lot of people think it meant Quit Fucking Talking, so easy mistake to make.

Good choice with the Rilo Kiley. I love Jenny Lewis.

Such an intense vibe. Think about this, you get into your first dates car. Its raining, cloudly and the wipers are going at full speed. This song is blaring, and your quietly speeding through a residential neighbourhood.

Some great new music from your resident DJ...

1) The Raconteurs: Jack White's new band...it's pretty badass_. If you haven't seen the website either, check it out at http://www.theraconteurs.com/ you'll love it.

2) Wolf Mother: Just listen to their first single "Woman" and tell me they're not the next Led Zepplin

Man, I wish I'd seen "the rest." I didn't even get a chance to see your misplaced rant, and I'm furious about that. There's nothing better than having a pal rant at you, and being able to start your response with a completely non-ironic "Actually..."

I see I was well-served NEVER using message board acronyms. I just thought your Kubrick/Burgess reference was spot on. Hence my completely tributary "QFT." Still buds.

Dutch- Glad to see you're enjoying The Bends. Anything in particular you like? I love hearing people who like things I like talk about things we like. What songs do you like, and why?

I think I was in 8th grade when they split up. I was at my friend Nash Krekovich's house when Kurt Loder broke the news that they were done. I cried.

Badmotorfinger is still one of my top 25 albums.

I don't like Audioslave that much, but I've only heard like 7 songs, and I loved Rage, too.

Out of habit, I normally tune-out everything but the guitar (or piano, depending on the music), but Cornell is one of only a couple singers I enjoy.

I can still remember the first time I heard Cornell's vocals in Rusty Cage and in Hunger Strike. He remains to this day one of my favorite vocalists, probably in the top 5 with Thom Yorke, Will Oldham, and a few others.

I think my list, in order goes:

1) Yorke (in a landslide)

2) Fitzgerald

3) Oldham

4) Scott Walker

5) Cornell

Honorable Mention goes to about 30 people I could put 4 or 5... Just depends who I'm listening to. I love Robert Plant, the guy from Danielson Famle (Danielson?), Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Nick Drake, and about a trillion others I haven't thought of.

It took me about a few months to make every Radiohead album jump. You might hate Kid A forever. But if you like The Bends, you'll probably have an OK Computer kick at some point.
