I'm listening to AFI's new cd "Decemberunderground" on theleak.mtv.com

I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't like "Miss Murder" at all to begin with, but it fits with the rest of the cd quite well.

well, i bought some CDs yesterday so i thought i'd post here. i don't think i'm much of a musical elitest, but the most recent post gave me hope that at least my music is better than Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman (who both suck tongue.gif ).

PurchasesL
Genesis: Live
Joe Satriani: Crystal Planet
White Stripes: ? (Self-titled?)
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble: Live Alive
Eric Clapton and the Yardbirds: The Yardbird Years
G3 Live: Rock in the Free World.

G3 is currently being played, and is amazing. friggin amazing. side 2 is the G3 Jam (Satriani, Vai, Malmstein) with Voodoo Chile, Little Wing and Rockin' in the Free World. simply unbelievable. Too amazing for words. Except "unbelievable" i guess which I've already used as an adjective.

You know how people often refer to artists they think are crappy and say things like, "anybody could do what he does"? I think that actually applies to Rob Thomas. He gets credit for being a big "hook" guy, but the only memorable vocal hook that guy has ever sung is in "Smooth", and I'm instantly convinced that Itaal Shur wrote the hook ("Give me your heart/make it real/let's don't forget about it").

mk, It's crazy that your posts were both at 6:07 AM (Pacific Time).

Today:

Just finished Brand New - Deja Entendu

Currently listening to The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots. I missed a chance to see these guys (and Beck, and about a billion other bands I'd kill to see) at Sasquatch a couple weeks back.

I am actually just listening to MLB2K6's soundtrack...

No, I'm serious. Check out the list of songs. It includes Belle and Sebastian, Interpol, Guided by Voices, Pavement, Stephen Malkmus, Mogwai, and Yo La Tengo among others.

I was profoundly shocked when I turned the game on for the first time, and heard BS's "To Be Myself Completely"

Good man.

I'm fairly unfamiliar with Todd Rundgren's stuff. At least, not familiar enough to make a comment.

The song "Bang on the Drum" might have the absolute most idiotic lyrics... ever. Just google Todd Rundgren Bang Drum and... I don't know, it kinda makes me ill.

I used to live in Indy, and they would play that song every time Peyton & co. scored at the RCA Dome. I do kinda dig that song.

I'm a hater. I think if I have to see one more girl swoon to "Your Body is a Wonderland" I'll buy a sniper rifle and cash in some of that serious rage.

I do, however, like his cover of Radiohead's "Kid A"

PS- I'm rocking to Dr. Octagon right now

I haven't heard that cover. I'd like to.

His newer stuff is a lot bluesier. the John Mayer Trio stuff is pretty sweet.
