Likewise. I was on the phone, online, and had a friend at the box office. Unfortunately, I'm gonna miss this show. I can't see paying the prices they are going for on ebay (well over $500).

Roger Waters is touring the US this summer and I am pumped; I have never gotten the chance to see any member of Pink Floyd (my favorite band) live before....also, he will be playing Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety in every show.
To celebrate, I am going to throw on some Obscured By Clouds and Meddle by Pink Floyd....."San Tropez" and "Fearless" are such solid songs....

that being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion and you could do a lot worse than tool, i just dont get the obsession. cult-like, almost.

The same could be said for fans of all bands, really. Radiohead, Metallica, etc.
In my experience, Tool is either a band you love or you don't care for. I have yet to meet a casual fan who for example, has just one of their cds. It seems to be all or nothing with them.
I've seen Maynard in an interview state something along the lines of, "We're not a band you put on and tap your foot to. With us, it's more of an interactive process." Or something close to that. It takes some time and effort to really get into Tool. It's not for everyone (that's not a slam on anyone). Those that do get into it though, usually are pretty rabid. Their live show is what does this to people imo. Hearing the songs on cd is one thing, seeing them performed live is something else entirely.
For me personally, I could seriously write a novel on why I like them so much. I can't speak for anyone else, but there is not an aspect I don't like about them musically.

I am a Tool fan, but probably not on the same level as the previous posters who have talked about them....Undertow was in my CD rotation for years (and is still my favorite work by them). AEnima is also a great album. By the time Lateralus came out, I had really stopped listening to music that was that heavy, so I didn't really get into it a whole lot. Tool is a very smart band that doesn't follow the status quo of their genre and attempts to do something different, interesting, and progressive. Undertow is definitely in my top 50 albums of all-time.....

My favorite Aphex Twin album is still
Selected Ambient Works `85-`92. It is old, but still great music.
I Care Because You Do is a great album as well, and
Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 is probably the next best after those.

Speaking of Thom Yorke, I sat down and listened to Radiohead's Kid A for the first time in a while this afternoon....seriously, how freaking great is that album? That is in my top 10 albums of all-time...in fact the problem with it is that it was so good that it makes every album that comes after it a little overwhelming in comparison. I know most people are bigger OK Computer or Bends fans, but Kid A in my opinion will always be their best work.
