I like Speaking in Tongues a little more, but Remain in Light is a great album.
For anyone who hasn't really listened to very much Talking Heads, I highly encourage you to check out the Stop Making Sense DVD.
Remain In Light is definately my personal favorite.

If you already like Ghost, then you'll love it. He's still crazy. When you manage to work David Koresh, Flava Flav, and a hysterectomy into a song, it's gotta be good.
Personally I'm looking forward to the Doom-Ghost collaboration.

I haven't heard much lately that's inspired me. I'm not a huge Ghost fan so I'm a bit biased. That said, Fishscale is a good record.
The most recent Smif n Wessun was underwhelming, that disappointed me.
I mostly just bang mixtapes these days. And watch out for the new Clipse record. They are back strong.

What's up, bitches?
The Shimmering Wang has been very VERY busy lately, and using a communal computer because my shorted out. I completely forgot my password to this place, but had a dream last night in which I totally remembered it. It was a random, 10 character series of letters, numbers, and symbols, but my brain finally proved it's worth last night, even after 30 million beers.
Anyway, I've been listening to:
The Islands (the new Unicorns band, minus guitarist, I think)- Return to the Sea
The new Ghostface Killah disc (Fishscale) which is awesome. Ghostface is awesome, so I've been alternating between Fishscale and Supreme Clientele
The Flaming Lips- At War with the Mystics I totally love the FLaming Lips, and even though this isn't an incredibly sweet album, I still enjoy it.
Built to Spill's new disc. I tracked down all the songs, even though it's not officially released for a few days, yet. I reccomend buying it, because it is awesome. Built to Spill is awesome. I am awesome.
Love is All- 9 times that same song... finally got released over here, so I went and bought it. Sweeeeeet.
Band of Horses- Everything all of the Time. it's alright. Some friends reccomended, so I've been giving it a shot.
Anyway, I love and miss you all.

They were kind of the band that started the American Northwest Indie-rock thing.
If I were you, I'd start with the album "Keep it Like a Secret." Every song is great, but I'd reccomend "Time Trap" "You Were Right" and "Broken Chairs."
After that, move on to "Perfect from Now on." In my opinion, the standout tracks from that CD are "I Would Hurt a Fly" and "Velvet Waltz."
The album "Ancient Melodies of the Future" is great, too, but most Built to Spill fans consider it a mild disappointment when compared to the former two albums. I still think it's an awesome CD, though. Superawesome megasweet songs include "Strange" "In Your Mind" "Happiness" and "The Weather."
I'm a superdork, but I absolutely cannot resist the temptation to espouse the greatness of Built to Spill. Give them a chance, and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Wang
PS- I'm currently listening to Guided by Voices, which everyone who has read my former posts knows is one of my all-time favorite and all-time underrated bands. A must for fans of pop rock, catchy hooks, and great song ideas.

They're kind of a weird cross between a pop band, a guitar driven classic rock band, and a jam band. Their live stuff is great, too. If you've got the patience (or summa 'dat WEED in ya'), listen to the live version of Broken chairs, from the aptly titled CD "Live."

If you guys want to hear a new band that msot people have not heard of yet that will be big in the next few years, check these guys. You can hear clips of and/or order their record here:
Blend - DeadlinesKind of like radiohead in a head on collision with a jam band full of guys that can actually play. You'll dig it. I stumbled across this record while buying some jazz stuff, and I dismiss most any pop/rock stuff immediatly (except for good stuff like Radiohead, Prince, and some others), but I really like this record.
