The Killing Tree - Chicago hardcore, with members of Rise Against. Not sure if they're officially broken up or just on hiatus with Rise Against's current success. Incredible vocalist. Perfect for when the blinds get big in a turbo tournament, or any tournament for that matter.
ThursdayMy favorite screamo band. The lyrics in the opening song on this album is what caught my attention. "We follow white lines til the sunset, crash my car everyday the same way" The song is Understanding in a Car Crash. The song is more metaphorical using my interpretation

Great live band. Good when you're running hot and everything seems right in the world.
Rise Above-24 Black Flag Song to benefit the West Memphis ThreePunk rock staple Black flag, covered by some of today's best vocalists. I'm a lifelong Rollins fan. I certainly don't agree with all of his views, but his opinion is always worth hearing. The West Memphis Three are 3 boys from Arkansas who were convicted of a triple murder at the height of "Satanic Panic", in the early 90s. I'm not fully convinced of their innocence, even after reading
Devil's Knot. I do know there is no way they should have been convicted, as the entire case was botched from start to finish. If you like true crime, it's a good read. I have
Paradise Lost on my list from blockbuster online. The case still has steam, as evidenced by the "long wait" as far as availablity goes. I can truely identify, as I'm around the same age as as those "kids". I remember back in the late late 80s, when we would go to the bookstore, steal books on "How to tell if you're child is becoming a satanist and how you can save his soul, etc.", and read about all the "signs" that your child has joined the occult. We would then proceed to graffiti our book covers with satanic symbols and "satanic" bands, hoping for some sliver of attention. I guess the books didn't sell too well to parents, because no one ever noticed. Luckily I was saved from Motley Crue and Iron Maiden by Soundgarden and Nirvana. Anyway, I digress.......this album is a great workout album, especially if you do a treadmill or stationary bike. 60 second to 2 minute blasts of pure ROCK POWA!! Look at the damn lineup if you don't believe me.

ThriceGreat musicians, great writing. I'm still partial to Illusion of Safety, just because it feels more raw and personal to me. That being said, the Artist in the Ambulance is a good album, although it has a tinge of politics in it that doesn't appeal to me. The title track is a great song. Anyone who knows an underappreciated paramedic should have them listen to it, or at least read the lyrics. I've had three listen, and every one was touched. Vheissu is their latest, and is growing on me slowly. It gets better everytime I listen to it though. Great for when you're getting cold decked at all 4 of your NL rings.
