HI all

After being a winning player at $2/$4 and $5/$10 no limit for the past two years i decided i wanted to try and learn limit, i wanted too start low and build up to gain experiance and skills that you learn from doing it that way so ive started right in at $1/$2, im just having abit of trouble with it, so far after 10,000 hands im a slight loser. Its very difficult for me too adapt too not being able to push people off pots.

For example if i raise it up with AK and get a caller and fire off on the flop and get called again what is my play from there? Over those 10,000 hands ive only hit the flop with Ak 17% of the time, if i bet and get called on the flop i usually have to check the turn and then fold too his bet and im losing alot of money doing this. Its really hard too work out what people are calling with as they will called with overcards, small pair, Aq or Ak high etc. Also if im out of position with something like Ak and Aq against one person is it standard practice to call down?

Im also at a loss as too what to do with medium pairs, utg and utg+1 do i fold things like 99 or TT or do i put in a raise? If im called and one or two overcards come and i bet the flop and get called do i auto check-fold on the turn? I see people calling down with 99 on a kq2 flop and actually being right and having the best hand and i just dont understand how they can know this as so many people treat AK high like a pocket pair.

Anyway sorry if ive not said things very clearly but hopefully you will understand what i mean. Im just finding hands like AQ and AK hard to play with a missed flop and turn both in and out of position as well as pocket pairs when one or two overcards flop once again in and out of position and id really appreciate any advice on building my Limit Game.

Thanks

I'll usually lead the turn if I have had the lead in the whole hand so far with an AK that has missed if it's heads up. Fold to a raise unless you picked up a straight or flush draw in addition to your overcards. You'd be surprised how many times your unpaired AK is actually value betting the turn, not bluffing it. If he calls the turn bet and you don't improve on the river, check and call if he is the type of player to bet just because you checked.
